Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Finds twine in loss
RotowireJarvis notched an assist, three shots on goal, four hits and a minus-2 rating in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
Jarvis has scored twice over the last three contests after breaking a five-game goal drought. The 23-year-old brought theHurricanes within a goal of tying the game midway through the third period, though the comeback push fell short. Jarvis is up to 12 goals, 19 points, 70 shots on net, 24 hits and a plus-1 rating across 23 appearances as a top-six regular this season.

RotowireGostisbehere scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
The veteran blueliner got theHurricanes on the board early in the second period before having a hand in a Seth Jarvis tally in the third. Gostisbehere has been productive since returning to the lineup from injury in mid-November. Over the last eight games, he's racked up two goals and nine points, with both goals plus an assist coming on the power play.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Two-point effort in loss
RotowireAho picked up two assists, one on the power play, in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
The 28-year-old center did what he could to keep Carolina in the game, having a hand in a Shayne Gostisbehere tally in the second period and a Seth Jarvis marker in the third. Aho hasn't gone more than two games in a row without getting onto the scoresheet all season, and over the last 12 contests, he's piled up four goals and 12 points.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Losing streak continues Wednesday
RotowireAndersen stopped 14 of 17 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers, with New York's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
While the Rangers didn't get a lot of chances, the ones they did get came in high-danger areas, and Andersen couldn't come up with a big save to shift the momentum. The veteran netminder has gone five straight starts without a win, stumbling to a record of 0-3-2 record with a 3.26 GAA and an .849 save percentage. Still, with Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) potentially set to miss some time, Andersen could be leaned on heavily in the short term by theHurricanes.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Skyler Brind'Amour: Two of each in AHL win
RotowireBrind'Amour scored twice and added two assists in AHL Chicago's 8-4 win over Rockford on Wednesday.
Brind'Amour nearly doubled his output for the season with this four-point game. He's at five goals, four assists, 29 shots on net and a minus-5 rating over 17 appearances. The 26-year-old is on pace to surpass his 24-point performance from 68 regular-season games a year ago, but he's unlikely to be near the top of the list for theHurricanes whenever they need a forward call-up.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Guarding cage versus Rangers
RotowireAndersen will tend the twine at home versus the Rangers on Wednesday, Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News reports.
Andersen is mired in a four-game losing streak, allowing 13 goals on 89 shots (.854 save percentage) in that span. He's alternated starts during that stretch, but Andersen looks to be in line for a larger workload in the absence of Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body). The Rangers have scored just 12 goals over their last six games, going 2-4-0 in that span, so this could be a good chance for Andersen to get on track.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' K'Andre Miller: Set to play Wednesday
RotowireMiller (undisclosed) is slated to rejoin the lineup against the Rangers on Wednesday.
Miller missed Tuesday's practice after getting hurt versus the Sabres on Sunday, but he appears to be no worse for wear. The blueliner hasn't found the back of the net since the season opener against the Devils on Oct. 9, a stretch of 15 outings without a goal. Still, Miller has racked up eight helpers over that stretch and should be capable of offering decent mid-range fantasy value.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Jordan Staal: Slated to miss Wednesday's game
RotowireStaal (illness) isn't expected to play Wednesday versus the Rangers, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Staal is set to miss his second straight game after being absent from Tuesday's practice and missing Wednesday's session as well. The 37-year-old forward has seven goals and nine points in 21 outings this year. Once he's recovered, Staal should slot back onto the third line.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' K'Andre Miller: Absent from practice
RotowireMiller (undisclosed) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice after getting banged up in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Buffalo, Walt Ruff of theHurricanes' official site reports.
It's unclear if Miller will be available to play against the Rangers on Wednesday, but head coach Rod Brind'Amour is hopeful that the 25-year-old defender will be in the lineup. Miller has accounted for two goals, 10 points, 34 shots on net, 15 blocked shots and 23 hits across 16 appearances this season.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Justin Robidas: Recalled from minors
RotowireRobidas was summoned from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, Carolina moved Jesperi Kotkaniemi (ankle) to injured reserve. Robdias has notched four goals and 12 points in 16 minor-league appearances this campaign. He could make his NHL season debut against the Rangers on Wednesday if Jordan Staal (illness) remains unavailable.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Jesperi Kotkaniemi: Goes on injured reserve
RotowireKotkaniemi (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
TheHurricanes recalled Justin Robidas from AHL Chicago in a corresponding move. Kotkaniemi has missed the last five games, and it's still unclear when he will be ready to return to the lineup. He has contributed two goals, five points, 17 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and 26 hits through 15 appearances this season.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Ruled out against Rangers
RotowireKochetkov is dealing with an undisclosed injury that will sideline him versus the Rangers on Wednesday, Walt Ruff of theHurricanes' official site reports.
The Canes continue to carry three netminders on the roster, so it's possible that Kochetkov would have been the odd man out regardless. Still, with both Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen dealing with injuries periodically, the team will likely keep Brandon Bussi on the roster. As such, it's hard to trust any of this trio when it comes to fantasy value, given the divided workload.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Jordan Staal: Game-time call Wednesday
RotowireStaal (illness) remains questionable to play in Wednesday's clash with the Rangers, Walt Ruff of theHurricanes' official site reports.
Staal was absent from practice again Tuesday, raising doubts regarding his availability versus New York. Prior to falling ill, the veteran center was just starting to find his scoring touch, netting four goals in his last four outings. Once given the all-clear, Staal should slot into his traditional third-line center role, which would allow the Canes to deploy a full 12 forwards.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Nets unassisted power-play goal
RotowireGostisbehere scored a power-play goal, placed three shots on net and dished out two hits in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Sabres.
Gostisbehere's second goal of the season came under rare circumstances, as he scored an unassisted goal with the man advantage. The 32-year-old's twine finder brings his season totals up to 14 points and 23 shots on target through 13 appearances this season. Gostisbehere has occupied a spot on Carolina's top defensive pairing and power-play unit since his Nov. 11 return from an abdominal injury. While his scoring pace is bound to slow down sooner or later, he has a strong chance to reach the 40-point mark for the fifth season in a row if Gostisbehere can limit further absences.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Struggles against low volume
RotowireAndersen stopped 17 of 20 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Sabres.
Andersen allowed three goals across the first two periods, including two even-strength goals in the second, before the Sabres scored an empty netter in the third. With the loss, the 36-year-old netminder has a 5-4-2 record with a 3.07 GAA and an .883 save percentage through 11 appearances this season. Andersen has picked up the loss in each of his past four appearances, while Pyotr Kochetkov is 4-0-0 since his return from injury early in November. Even Carolina's third-string goaltender, Brandon Bussi, has won each of his last three starts behind theHurricanes' offense that has put up 3.62 goals per game this season, which ranks second in the NHL. Andersen should have better days ahead of him, but until he can clean up his overall play, stronger internal and external options in fantasy can provide interim value.
... See More... See LessHurricanes' Jordan Staal: Unavailable Sunday
RotowireStaal (illness) won't play against Buffalo on Sunday.
Staal will miss at least one game, but he has some time to recover ahead of Wednesday's home matchup against the Rangers. He has collected seven goals, two assists, 27 shots on net and 37 hits across 21 appearances this season. Due to Staal's absence, theHurricanes will dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen in Sunday's contest, with Alexander Nikishin returning to the lineup.
