Letang (foot) will miss at least four weeks and landed on injured reserve Saturday.

Letang didn't participate in Friday's practice and won't play until after the Olympic break due to a fracture in his foot. However, his recovery timeline could keep him unavailable to play after thePenguins return to action in late February. He has three goals, 22 assists, 67 hits and 64 blocked shots through 50 appearances this season.

Letang (upper body) is expected to return to the lineup against Vancouver on Sunday,Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports.

Following a two-game absence, Letang will probably return to the second pairing and second power-play unit against the Canucks on Sunday. He has produced three goals, 25 points, 77 shots on net, 60 blocked shots and 65 hits across 48 appearances this season.

If the veteran blueliner does miss Wednesday's clash with Calgary, it could be an opportunity for new addition Ilya Solovyov to make hisPenguins debut -- though Jack St. Ivany will also be in the mix.

Letang scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Red Wings.

Letang found the back of the net when thePenguins needed him the most, as his slap shot at the 58-second mark of overtime gave the Penguins the win. The veteran defender remains a productive player and is up to 20 points (three goals, 17 helpers) while adding 48 hits and 48 blocked shots, as well as a plus-1 rating, in 39 games this season.

Letang earned an assist, two shots on goal, two hits, two PIM, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Letang has picked up eight helpers, including three on the power play, as well as 21 shots on net, 14 hits, 14 blocked shots, 10 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 12 contests in December. He hasn't had multiple points in any of those games, and he hasn't scored since Nov. 28. The 38-year-old is at 18 points, 59 shots, 43 hits, 45 blocks, 18 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 36 appearances.

Letang scored a goal on three shots, supplied an assist and added two hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.

Letang set up Sidney Crosby for the opening goal at 6:10 of the first period, then won the game himself 59 seconds into overtime. The goal was Letang's second of the season. He entered Friday on a five-game point drought, a span in which thePenguins had just 11 goals as a team. The 38-year-old blueliner has accumulated 10 points, 37 shots on net, 28 hits, 29 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 23 outings this season while regularly playing on the second pairing and second power-play unit.

Letang logged a pair of assists, three shots on goal, four hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Wild.

Letang helped out on the game-tying goal by Ryan Shea in the second period and a Bryan Rust tally in the third that stood as the game-winner. This was Letang's second multi-point effort of the campaign. The 38-year-old defenseman has a goal, five helpers, 17 shots on net, 16 hits, 19 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating through 12 appearances. If he can continue to produce at around a 40-point pace with plenty of non-scoring contributions, he's worth having on most fantasy rosters.

Letang scored a power-play goal on two shots, blocked three shots, added two hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Letang started slow, but he's earned four points over his last four games, accounting for all of his offense this season. His goal Saturday was the first of two late in the third period for thePenguins to help get the game to overtime. Through nine contests, the veteran defenseman has added 11 shots on net, 12 hits, 14 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating for a team that has exceeded early expectations.

Letang collected two power-play assists in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Canucks.

With his second helper of the night -- on Justin Brazeau's insurance tally in the third period -- Letang reached 600 career assists, becoming the 20th defenseman in NHL history to reach that plateau. He's also the 10th defender to achieve the milestone with a single team, a list that includes Hall of Fame legends Bobby Orr, Larry Robinson, Denis Potvin and Nicklas Lidstrom. Letang is nearing the end of his career at 38 years of age, but he still has something left in the tank. After being held off the scoresheet through Pittsburgh's first five games of the season, he has three assists in the last two.

He had an injury scare against the Rangers on Oct. 11, but he's been fine during thePenguins' road trip through California, playing in his usual top-four role. Through three games this season, Letang remains pointless despite averaging 2:29 of ice time with the man advantage -- though he has recorded just five shots, which explains his lack of offensive production.

Letang is being evaluated for an injury after playing just one shift in the third period of Saturday's game versus the Rangers, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Letang's injury flew under the radar during the game, but it'll leave his status in doubt for the start of thePenguins' three-game road trip in California. That trip begins Tuesday in Anaheim. If Letang can't suit up, Harrison Brunicke will see more ice time while Matt Dumba would be the top candidate to enter the lineup.
