Bethune is working through right high-ankle sprain, which forced him to be sidelined for the 49ers' Week 12 win over the Panthers. He would give himself a chance to play against the Browns on Sunday with a return to practice Friday, but if he's ruled out for Week 13, then Curtis Robinson would likely start at linebacker for a second straight week.

Beal (concussion) logged a full practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Beal was sidelined for Monday's win against the Panthers due to a concussion. His return to a full practice is a good sign, but it's unclear if he has cleared the league's concussion protocol -- a requirement for him to be active for a Week 13 matchup against the Browns.

Gifford (hip/neck) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Gifford was active in Week 12 against the Panthers, but he did not log a snap in the team's 20-9 win over the Panthers. The linebacker has been nursing both hip and neck injuries at practice, so his limited participation Wednesday doesn't come as a surprise. Gifford will have two more chances to practice in full prior to Sunday's matchup with Cleveland.

Okuayinonu (ankle) is expected to miss multiple weeks, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Okuayinonu suffered an ankle injury in the team's 20-9 victory over the Panthers on Monday Night Football, and he is now set to "miss a couple weeks," according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. With the49ers set to be idle in Week 14, it's possible that the defensive lineman's absence is limited to just one game. In the meantime, Robert Beal (concussion), Keion White and Clelin Ferrell are candidates to step into a starting role on San Francisco's defensive line against the Browns on Sunday.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan relayed Wednesday that the49ers will not designateGross-Matos (knee) to return from injured reserve, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Gross-Matos missed three games in October before landing on injured reserve Nov. 1 due to a hip injury. This Sunday's game against the Browns will mark his eighth-straight missed game, and with the 49ers on a bye Week 14, his next opportunity to play is Week 15 against the Titans on Sunday, Dec. 14.

Pineiro did not practice in any capacity prior to being ruled out for Week 12, and there's no indication that his return to on-field reps is on the immediate horizon. He's reportedly considered week-to-week due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain suffered Week 11 against Arizona. Matt Gay made all four kicks (two field-goal tries and two PATs) in his team debut during Monday's win over the Panthers, and he could be elevated from the practice squad to draw another start if Pineiro remains sidelined Sunday on the road against Cleveland.

Aiyuk (knee) won't return to practice this week, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Aiyuk reportedly wants to sit out the rest of the season and then angle for his release rather than playing for the49ers after they voided guarantees in his four-year extension. The team, meanwhile, is hoping to get Aiyuk back on the field at some point this season, though it presumably wouldn't be until late December or January. It's unclear if Aiyuk would be considered ready for practice if not for his displeasure with the 49ers.

Stout recorded six tackles (two solo) with one pass defensed in Monday's 20-9 win over the Panthers.

Stout continued to play a part-time role in the San Francisco defense, as he was on the field for 27 of 46 defensive snaps while manning the slot. While that keeps his snap rate in check, Stout has at least six tackles in four of his last five games.
