Browns' Andre Szmyt: Misses lone field-goal attempt
RotowireSzmyt missed his lone field-goal attempt and made his only extra-point try during theBrowns' 32-13 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Szmyt was unable to connect on a 47-yard field goal early in the second quarter, which would have extended the Browns' lead to 10-3. It was his third missed field goal of the season, and he is now 10-for-13 on field-goal attempts and 12-for-13 on point-after tries through the first eight games of the regular season.

RotowireBrowns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday that he will stick withGabriel at quarterback following the Week 9 bye, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Gabriel had a few good moments during Cleveland's 32-13 loss to the Patriots, including a pair of touchdown strikes, his first since Week 5. Unfortunately for the Browns, the rookie threw two interceptions and was whistled for a safety in the fourth quarter when he intentionally grounded a pass while in his own end zone. If Stefanski eventually makes a change, Gabriel would likely be replaced by Shedeur Sanders, who was inactive Week 8 due to a back injury,
... See More... See LessBrowns' Jerry Jeudy: Invisible in Week 8 loss
RotowireJeudy failed to catch either of his two targets in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Patriots.
The veteran wideout continues to be an afterthought in theBrowns' passing game, as tight ends David Njoku and Harold Fannin dominated the attention of rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Jeudy has managed just a 9-75-0 line on 24 targets in Gabriel's four starts, and while the coaching staff might use a Week 9 bye to recalibrate the offense, Jeudy's fantasy appeal is at an all-time low.

RotowireFannin caught six of eight targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Patriots. He added two rushing yards on his lone carry.
The rookie led theBrowns in receptions, targets and yards while hauling in a 18-yard TD from Dillon Gabriel in the first quarter. Fannin and fellow tight end David Njoku have emerged as the most reliable downfield options for Gabriel, as wide receivers accounted for just three of his 21 completions on the afternoon. Fannin will take a 38-352-2 line on 51 targets through eight games into a Week 9 bye before facing the Jets in Week 10.
... See More... See LessBrowns' David Njoku: Finds end zone against Pats
RotowireNjoku caught four of five targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Patriots.
After missing last week's game with a knee issue, Njoku returned to action and made a splash with an 11-yard TD catch from Dillon Gabriel in the fourth quarter. The veteran also saw rookie Harold Fannin hit paydirt as well, and the duo have emerged as Gabriel's most reliable options, at the expense of the team's wideouts. Njoku will rest up on theBrowns' Week 9 bye before facing the Jets in Week 10.
... See More... See LessBrowns' Dylan Sampson: Eight touches in Week 8
RotowireSampson gained zero rushing yards on three carries and caught five of six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Patriots.
The eight touches were Sampson's biggest volume since Week 1, before fellow rookie RB Quinshon Judkins had made his NFL debut. Sunday's increase also came in part due to the absence of Judkins, who left the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury. Sampson's biggest contributions so far have come as a receiver, and through eight games he's managed just 51 rushing yards and 1.8 yards per carry, but a 20-133-1 line on 23 targets. TheBrowns are on bye in Week 9, so Judkins may not miss any further time, but if he isn't ready to return, Sampson could be the lead back -- with Jerome Ford in support -- in Week 10 against the Jets.
... See More... See LessBrowns' Dillon Gabriel: Mixed bag in big loss
RotowireGabriel completed 21 of 35 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Patriots. He added 13 yards on his only carry.
The rookie QB barely involved his wide receivers in the game plan, as just three of his 21 completions went to WRs, and his two TDs went to tight ends Harold Fannin and David Njoku. Gabriel also threw the first two INTs of his NFL career however, and he's failed to reach 200 passing yards in three of his four starts since replacing Joe Flacco under center for theBrowns. Gabriel will get a chance to regroup on the team's Week 9 bye before taking on the struggling Jets in Week 10.

CBS Sports Zachary PerelesBrowns' Carson Schwesinger: Hurts ankle, slated for MRI
RotowireSchwesinger is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's Week 8 loss to New England and is slated for an MRI, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Schwesinger was hurt midway through the fourth quarter and didn't return. He had a nice game before getting injured, tallying five tackles and an interception. the typical recovery timeline for a high-ankle sprain is about 4-6 weeks, and the results of Schwesinger's MRI should provide some clarity about whether he's at risk of missing time. However, Cleveland has a Week 9 bye, so Schwesinger will have some extra time to recover before theBrowns' next game, which will take place Sunday, Nov. 9 against the Jets.
... See More... See LessBrowns' Rayshawn Jenkins: Won't return due to groin issue
RotowireJenkins (groin) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's Week 8 game against New England.
Jenkins was deemed out with about 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Prior to his exit, he recorded four tackles (two solo). Jenkins has worked in a rotational role throughout the campaign, topping out at a 40 percent defensive snap share in Week 7 against Miami.
... See More... See LessBrowns' Tyson Campbell: Ruled out
RotowireCampbell (head) has been ruled out of Sunday's contest against the Patriots.
Campbell went to the locker room to be evaluated for a potential concussion and has been officially ruled out of the game with a head injury. Dom Jones has been playing cornerback snaps in Campbell's absence and will likely finish the game.
... See More... See LessBrowns' Quinshon Judkins: Won't return Sunday
RotowireJudkins (shoulder) won't return to Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Prior to sustaining his shoulder injury, Judkins carried nine times for 19 yards and caught all three of his targets for minus-2 yards. In Judkins' absence, Jerome Ford and Dylan Sampson are available to handle theBrowns' backfield duties. Judkins' next chance to see game action will arrive Sunday, Nov. 9 against the Jets following Cleveland's Week 9 bye.
... See More... See LessBrowns' Tyson Campbell: Possible concussion
RotowireCampbell went to the locker room during Sunday's game against the Patriots to be evaluated for a potential concussion.
Campbell left for the locker room during the third quarter on Sunday. The former Jaguar is playing in just his second game with Cleveland and has been nursing a quadriceps injury all week.

CBS Sports Jasmyn WimbishBrowns' Adin Huntington: Inactive for Week 8
RotowireHuntington (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Huntington suffered a concussion during the Week 7 win over the Dolphins and remains in the league's protocol. Shelby Harris and Mike Hall will potentially play rotational snaps in Huntington's stead behind starting defensive tackles Mason Graham and Maliek Collins.

CBS Sports Ross KellyBrowns' Shedeur Sanders: Inactive Sunday
RotowireSanders (back) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
Sanders was added to theBrowns' injury report with a 'questionable' designation Saturday due to back tightness, and he'll sit this one out and target a return to action after his team's Week 9 bye. In his absence Sunday, practice-squad elevation Bailey Zappe will serve as starting QB Dillon Gabriel's top backup.
... See More... See LessBrowns' David Njoku: Active for Sunday's game
RotowireNjoku (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
After being inactive for theBrowns' Week 7 win over the Dolphins, Njoku logged limited practices Wednesday through Friday before being deemed questionable for Sunday's contest. In his return to action, barring any limitations or in-game setbacks, Njoku should see his share of snaps and targets alongside fellow TE Harold Fannin. Despite missing last weekend's game, Njoku is second on his team with 23 catches (for 223 yards and a touchdown on 36 targets), trailing only Fannin (32 catches on 43 targets for 290 yards and a TD) in that category.
