Chosen reverted to theCommanders' practice squad Monday.

Chosen got his first chance of the season to suit up in this past Sunday's 44-22 loss to Dallas and played 33 of 67 offensive snaps, placing him fourth among Commanders wideouts. He caught all four of his targets for 36 yards, with the reception total leading all Washington players. Chosen's opportunity came as a result of Washington's wideout corps being depleted by injuries -- each of Terry McLaurin (quadriceps), Deebo Samuel (heel) and Noah Brown (groin) were unable to play. Chosen's path to further opportunities likely depends on when the team's injured wideouts are able to return.

Chosen joined the Commanders' practice squad at the end of September, but he has yet to appear in a game with the team. With both Deebo Samuel (heel) and Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) both sidelined, Chosen should have a chance to be active Sunday against the Cowboys.

Chosen started the season on the 49ers' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was cut by the 49ers in early September, but the veteran wideout will get another opportunity with the Commanders, who are dealing with injuries to Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Noah Brown (groin). Chosen appeared in two regular-season games for the Dolphins in 2024 and finished with one catch on four targets for five yards.

Despite the fact that the 49ers are dealing with a laundry list of injuries at the receiver position, they felt it was best to part ways with Chosen ahead of Week 2. He'll now have to look for his next opportunity with a new team.

Chosen signed with San Francisco's practice squad Wednesday.

Chosen didn't make the 53-man roster, but the veteran wide receiver is a candidate for an early-season promotion, depending on the availability of San Francisco's various injured wideouts. The speedster's regular-season totals in receiving yards have dropped every subsequent season since he had a career-high 1,096 with the Panthers in 2020, down to 519 in 2021, 282 in 2022, 126 in 2023 and five yards in 2024.

Chosen played all three preseason games for the 49ers and registered nine receptions for 117 yards and no touchdowns. Nevertheless, he was shown the door despite a thin wide receiver room with multiple injuries in San Francisco. At 32 years old, Chosen's best days are likely behind him. He played two games with the Dolphins last season and caught one pass for five yards.

Chosen brought in all three of his targets for 24 yards in Saturday's 30-23 preseason win over the Chargers.

Chosen started alongside Demarcus Robinson for Saturday's preseason finale with projected starters Ricky Pearsall (rest) and Jauan Jennings (calf) sitting out the exhibition. Several reserve wideouts also were nursing injuries, so the49ers turned to the 32-year-old Chosen, who excelled in the spot start. San Francisco will be awfully thin at the WR position out of the gates with Brandon Aiyuk (knee) expected to miss several weeks, Robinson serving a three-game suspension, and Jennings iffy for Week 1. Chosen may find himself not only surviving roster cuts, but actually getting work early in the year as a backup despite being signed just three weeks ago.

Chosen and the49ers agreed on a one-year contract Sunday.

Chosen signed with the 49ers in August of 2024, ultimately being released before the beginning of the regular season. The wide receiver then joined the Dolphins, catching one of four targets for five yards while playing 28 offensive snaps over two contests with the team. Chosen will now get another shot to prove himself with San Francisco ahead of the 2025 campaign.
