Spurs' Keldon Johnson: Effective in bench role
RotowireJohnson produced 19 points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 7-7 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes during Sunday's 118-107 win over Brooklyn.
Johnson posted his best showing of the 2025-26 season Sunday, dropping 19 points in an efficient shooting day after tallying 19 total points in his previous two appearances. He led the San Antonio reserves in rebounds and fit in nicely alongside rookie teammate Dylan Harper, as the two combined for 39 bench points. Johnson has the ability to provide a spark coming off the bench for theSpurs and has been shooting the ball well so far this year, hitting 14 of 22 attempts from the field in three games.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Julian Champagnie: Reaches double figures
RotowireChampagnie posted 13 points (4-5 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes during Sunday's 118-107 win over the Nets.
Champagnie scored in double digits for the first time this season after being held to 12 total points in his previous two appearances of the 2025-26 regular season. He did so by capitalizing on limited offensive opportunities, scorching the net for three triples on just four attempts. Champagnie continues to see opportunities with the first unit and should remain in this role until theSpurs get healthier.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Dylan Harper: Puts up 20 points in victory
RotowireHarper notched 20 points (8-11 FG, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 29 minutes during Sunday's 118-107 win over Brooklyn.
Harper dominated as a shooter in this one, missing only three shots on the way to his best scoring performance of his young NBA career. He was just as impressive in other areas, setting new career highs in rebounds, assists and steals. While there are sure to be more bumps in the road as Harper adjusts to the next level, it's clear that he has the talent to provide significant value across the board.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Victor Wembanyama: Double-doubles in victory
RotowireWembanyama tallied 31 points (9-21 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 10-15 FT), 14 rebounds, six blocks, four assists and three steals across 36 minutes in Sunday's 118-107 win over the Nets.
Wembanyama led theSpurs in scoring and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds en route to his third double-double in as many games. The star center also swatted at least three shots for the third consecutive game, totaling 18 blocks over that span. He's the first player in NBA history to score 100 points and record 18 blocks through the first three games of the regular season. The 21-year-old has been extremely impressive on both ends of the floor so far this season, averaging 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 6.0 blocks, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 32.7 minutes per contest.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Lindy Waters: Ruled out for Sunday
RotowireWaters (eye) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nets, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Waters is still recovering from a minor laser eye procedure and has yet to make his season debut. While there's no clear timetable for his return to action, the 28-year-old forward's next opportunity to suit up will come Monday against the Raptors.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Kelly Olynyk: Remaining out vs. Brooklyn
RotowireOlynyk (heel) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nets, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Olynyk is still recovering from heel surgery he underwent in April and has yet to make his season debut. There's no clear timetable for the big man's return, though his next chance to suit up will come Monday against the Raptors. With Luke Kornet (ankle) also ruled out, Bismack Biyombo will likely see a bump in playing time Sunday.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Luke Kornet: Won't suit up Sunday
RotowireKornet (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nets, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
Kornet will miss the front end of San Antonio's back-to-back set due to a sprained left ankle, and his next opportunity to play will come Monday against the Raptors. With the big man joining Kelly Olynyk (heel) on the sideline, Bismack Biyombo is likely to see a bump in minutes behind Victor Wembanyama.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Dylan Harper: Overcomes rough shooting night
RotowireHarper amassed 13 points (3-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 26 minutes during Friday's 120-116 overtime victory over the Pelicans.
The 2nd overall pick did not have an efficient night from the field, but managed 13 points overall by draining all six of his free throws. In 26 minutes of play, Harper still provided decent rebound and assist totals, plus one steal on defense. The rookie will likely have up and down nights as he gets acclimated to the NBA, especially on aSpurs team with a bevy of options.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Luke Kornet: Gives timely double-double
RotowireKornet racked up 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds, four assists and one block over 35 minutes during Friday's 120-116 overtime victory over the Pelicans.
Kornet saw a vast increase in minutes and used them to turn in his first double-double of the season. He was brought in during the offseason from Boston and stepped in after Victor Wembanyama fouled out in overtime. The four assists were a pleasant sign as he adjusts to new teammates. Kornet has a chance to have another strong effort Sunday against Brooklyn.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Stephon Castle: Continues balanced start
RotowireCastle recorded 16 points (5-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-6 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Friday's 120-116 overtime victory over the Pelicans.
The sophomore season is off to a good start for the reigning rookie of the year. After scoring 22 points in the season opener, he added 16 Friday, including a trio of made threes. He coupled the scoring with a second straight game topping five assists and rebounds each. San Antonio is off to a 2-0 start with the UConn product in the starting point guard role. So far, Castle is picking right up where he left off last season, but that could be impacted when De'Aaron Fox makes his eventual return.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Devin Vassell: Drills six threes in OT win
RotowireVassell racked up 23 points (8-19 FG, 6-14 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal over 40 minutes during Friday's 120-116 overtime victory over the Pelicans.
Vassell made his presence felt from three, draining six triples and finishing with 23 points. With 14 of his 19 shot attempts coming from being the arc, it appears Vassell will have plenty opportunities to deliver a decent scoring night. He led San Antonio in minutes played, including all five in overtime, which bodes well for his role as a mainstay in theSpurs lineup.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Victor Wembanyama: Flirts with triple-double
RotowireWembanyama notched 29 points (13-23 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, a steal and nine blocks across 32 minutes before fouling out in Friday's 120-116 overtime win over the Pelicans.
Wembanyama finished just one block shy of recording what would've been his first triple-double of the season, and there's a good chance he might have achieved that hadn't he fouled out. The star big man has looked nearly unstoppable in his first two outings this season, as he delivered 40 points, 15 boards and three blocks against the Mavericks in theSpurs' opener. Wembanyama could be in line for another productive matchup Sunday against the Nets, who have started the season with back-to-back losses.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Kelly Olynyk: Won't play vs. Pelicans
RotowireOlynyk (heel) is out for Friday's game against New Orleans, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Olynyk remains on the shelf following heel surgery. His next chance to make his season debut comes against the Nets on Sunday. Olynyk's absence allows Luke Kornet to have a clear runway as the backup center.
... See More... See LessSpurs' De'Aaron Fox: Won't play Friday
RotowireFox (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Pelicans, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Fox will remain sidelined due to a hamstring injury. The next chance for the veteran guard to get back on the floor will be Sunday against the Nets. Stephon Castle, Jordan McLaughlin and Dylan Harper will continue to shoulder the load in the backcourt.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Lindy Waters: Out for Friday
RotowireWaters (eye) is out for Friday's game against the Pelicans, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Waters remains on the mend following an eye procedure. His next chance to make his season debut is against the Nets on Sunday. Waters' absence shouldn't cause a major change in theSpurs' rotation.
... See More... See LessSpurs' Julian Champagnie: Plays 25 minutes as starter
RotowireChampagnie provided five points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 25 minutes during Wednesday's 125-92 win over the Mavericks.
Like he did during the preseason, Champagnie started alongside Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Victor Wembanyama. Champagnie tied Keldon Johnson with 25 minutes, and rookie Dylan Harper saw 23 minutes in his debut. Champagnie's playing time will likely tick down even more when De'Aaron Fox (hamstring), Jeremy Sochan (wrist) and Kelly Olynyk (heel) are cleared to suit up. However, it's unclear when that'll be, and Champagnie appears locked into a starting role until then.
