Hawks' Asa Newell: First double-double of NBA career
RotowireNewell totaled 12 points (4-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds and one assist over 25 minutes during theHawks' 117-100 loss to the Thunder on Saturday.
Newell didn't play Opening Night against the Raptors and saw the floor for just four minutes during the Hawks' win over the Magic on Friday. However, the rookie first-rounder got extended run Saturday due to the absences of Zaccharie Risacher (ankle), Jalen Johnson (ankle) and Kristaps Porzingis (illness). Newell took advantage of the playing time and showed high energy on the floor as he hauled in seven of the Hawks' 15 offensive rebounds en route to the first double-double of his NBA career. The No. 23 overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft could carve out a consistent role for himself amidst a crowded Atlanta frontcourt if he continues to play well off the bench.
... See More... See LessHawks' Trae Young: First double-double of season
RotowireYoung registered 15 points (5-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 assists and four rebounds over 30 minutes during theHawks' 117-100 loss to the Thunder on Saturday.
Young's 15 points were a season low, but he still finished as the Hawks' second-leading scorer behind Nickeil Alexander-Walker (17), and the former led both teams with 10 dimes en route to his first double-double of the year. Young has opened the 2025-26 regular season connecting on just 38.6 percent of his field-goal attempts while averaging 20.7 points, 7.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over 32.7 minutes per game.
... See More... See LessHawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Double-double in loss
RotowireOkongwu tallied 11 points (5-12 FG, 1-5 3Pt), 12 rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 35 minutes during theHawks' 117-100 loss to the Thunder on Saturday.
Okongwu got the start at center for a second straight game due to the absence of Kristaps Porzingis (illness). Okongwu put together a solid stat line, logging his first double-double of the season while leading the Hawks in rebounds. He would be in line to start again Monday against the Bulls if Porzingis is not cleared to return.
... See More... See LessHawks' Mouhamed Gueye: Starting sans Johnson
RotowireGueye will start in Saturday's game against the Thunder, Kevin Chouinard of theHawks' official site reports.
With Jalen Johnson (ankle) sidelined, Gueye will get the starting nod in the second leg of the team's back-to-back set. The 22-year-old logged 30 minutes off the bench in Friday's win over Orlando, posting 13 points (5-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-3 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one block.
... See More... See LessHawks' Nikola Durisic: Won't suit up Saturday
RotowireDurisic (coach's decision) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
Durisic will sit out Saturday's contest, and his next chance to play will come Monday against the Bulls. However, the 21-year-old forward has yet to see the floor this season and isn't guaranteed playing time.
... See More... See LessHawks' Eli John Ndiaye: Won't play Saturday
RotowireNdiaye (coach's decision) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
Ndiaye will sit out Saturday's contest, and his next opportunity to play will come Monday against the Bulls. However, the two-way player has yet to see the floor this season and isn't guaranteed playing time.
... See More... See LessHawks' Kristaps Porzingis: Remains out Saturday
RotowirePorzingis (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
Porzingis continues to battle an illness, keeping him sidelined for a second straight game. The team will likely turn to Onyeka Okongwu, Mouhamed Gueye and Asa Newell to help shoulder the load in a shorthanded frontcourt that also won't have Zaccharie Risacher (ankle) and Jalen Johnson (ankle).
... See More... See LessHawks' Jalen Johnson: Won't play vs. OKC
RotowireJohnson (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
Johnson is dealing with an ankle injury that will keep him out of a game for the first time during the 2025-26 campaign. The team will be shorthanded in the frontcourt, with Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Zaccharie Risacher (ankle) also ruled out for this matchup. Onyeka Okongwu, Mouhamed Gueye and Asa Newell will likely see more time on the floor.
... See More... See LessHawks' Asa Newell: Scores five in four minutes
RotowireNewell logged five points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt) over four minutes during Friday's 111-107 victory over Orlando.
Newell didn't get much time on the floor but made use of it, connecting on two of three field-goal attempts. Despite maximizing his short time in Friday's game, Newell likely won't make much of an impact from a fantasy perspective this season.
... See More... See LessHawks' N'Faly Dante: Three boards in four minutes
RotowireDante finished Friday's 111-107 win over the Magic with three rebounds across four minutes.
Dante didn't get much time on the floor during Friday's game. However, he managed to crash the glass in that short time. It's not likely the Oregon product will get many opportunities this season, meaning he's a non-factor from a fantasy perspective.
... See More... See LessHawks' Jalen Johnson: Questionable vs. OKC
RotowireJohnson (ankle) is questionable to play in Saturday's game against the Thunder, Kevin Chouinard of theHawks' official site reports.
Johnson popped up on the injury report ahead of Saturday's matchup due to an ankle injury. The team could be very shorthanded in the frontcourt, as Zaccharie Risacher (ankle) has already been ruled out, and there's a chance Kristaps Porzingis (illness) misses a second straight game. In the event Johnson can't play, Mouhamed Gueye and Asa Newell will potentially see a boost in minutes.
... See More... See LessHawks' Zaccharie Risacher: Won't play vs. OKC
RotowireRisacher (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder, Kevin Chouinard of theHawks' official site reports.
Risacher will miss a second consecutive game due to an ankle injury. The team will likely turn to Nickeil Alexander-Walker to take Risacher's spot in the starting lineup, with Luke Kennard, Vit Krejci and Mouhamed Gueye potentially seeing more time on the floor off the bench.
... See More... See LessHawks' Kristaps Porzingis: Questionable Saturday
RotowirePorzingis (illness) is questionable to play in Saturday's game against the Thunder, Kevin Chouinard of theHawks' official site reports.
Porzingis missed Friday's game against the Magic due to flu-like symptoms, and there's a chance he misses the second game of this back-to-back set. Onyeka Okongwu will likely see more time on the floor if Porzingis misses a second consecutive game.
... See More... See LessHawks' Luke Kennard: Scores six in win
RotowireKennard posted six points (3-5 FG), four rebounds, two assists and a steal over 23 minutes in Friday's 111-107 win against the Magic.
Kennard posted almost an identical statline to his performance Wednesday against Toronto, only recording one less assist despite playing seven less minutes. Kennard's role backing up Trae Young seems to be solidified moving forward, but look for him to start making more threes, as he is a career 43.7 percent three-point shooter (2.0 threes made per game) but has made only one in the first two games of the 2025-26 season.
... See More... See LessHawks' Jalen Johnson: Quieter outing in win
RotowireJohnson posted 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, an assist and a steal over 26 minutes in Friday's 111-107 win against Orlando.
While Johnson shot well again from the field, he was unable to replicate his production in the assists category and shot eight fewer free-throw attempts than he did Wednesday against Toronto. Johnson has the chance to bounce back Saturday against the Thunder, who have kicked off the season with two straight double overtime games.
... See More... See LessHawks' Dyson Daniels: Improved performance Friday
RotowireDaniels totaled six points (3-7 FG, 0-2 FT), nine rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 32 minutes during Friday's 111-107 victory over Orlando.
Coming off a dud to begin the season, Daniels looked more like himself Friday, tallying three combined steals and blocks. He dealt with foul issues for much of the season opener, limiting his playing time. However, he was back to 32 minutes in the win, more in line with what managers should expect to see on a nightly basis moving forward.
... See More... See LessHawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Full stat line in win
RotowireOkongwu notched 17 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 33 minutes during Friday's 111-107 win over Orlando.
Okongwu replaced Kristaps Porzingis (illness) in the starting lineup, ending with a full stat line, despite dealing with foul trouble. While he is slated to come off the bench when Porzingis is healthy, Okongwu should still be able to hold steady top-90 value in most formats. If and when Porzingis is sidelined, look for Okongwu to step into a slightly larger role.
... See More... See LessHawks' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Drops 19 points in start
RotowireAlexander-Walker closed with 19 points (8-18 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal over 31 minutes during Friday's 111-107 victory over the Magic.
Alexander-Walker moved into the starting lineup, replacing Zaccharie Risacher, who was ruled out with an ankle injury. The move yielded immediate rewards, with Alexander-Walker scoring 19 points in the comeback victory. This is precisely why theHawks acquired him during the offseason, to provide the team with much-needed depth at the guard position. While he will clearly be an every-night part of the rotation, managers shouldn't expect this kind of production on a regular basis.
