Tyson won't start in Sunday's game against the Bucks, Serena Winters of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio reports.

The 22-year-old swingman got the starting nod in Cleveland's first two regular-season games, though he'll retreat to the bench with De'Andre Hunter (knee) returning to game action. Over two outings this season, Tyson has averaged 6.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks while shooting 62.5 percent from the field in 21.5 minutes per contest.

Tyson will start Wednesday's game against the Knicks.

With Darius Garland (foot) De'Andre Hunter (knee) and Max Strus (foot) sidelined to start the season, Tyson and Sam Merrill will start alongside Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. Tyson was a training camp standout and could carve out a regular rotation role even when theCavaliers are at full strength.

TheCavaliers exercisedTyson's third-year team option Wednesday, per Tom Withers of the Associated Press.

The move will keep Tyson under team control for the 2026-27 campaign. With Max Strus (foot) out for the onset of the upcoming year, Tyson will likely be fighting with Craig Porter for reserve minutes.

Tyson will come off the bench during Tuesday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Tyson will be in the second unit after starting in Sunday's preseason loss to the Celtics. He finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists in a strong performance as a starter.

Tyson produced 16 points (6-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, four assists and three turnovers across 28 minutes of Sunday's 138-107 preseason loss to Boston.

TheCavaliers rested multiple players Sunday, including Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. Tyson was ice cold in his previous two exhibitions, shooting a combined 2-for-12 from the field, but he took advantage of some extra usage in this one. With the Cavaliers expected to be shorthanded to open the season, Tyson is likely to be in the rotation on Opening Night.

Cleveland will need to turn things around in Game 5, now having to secure three straight victories to advance to the Conference Finals.

Tyson will come off the bench during Game 1 of the quarterfinal-round series against the Heat on Sunday.

Tyson finished the regular season on a high note, dropping a season-high 31 points as a starter for Cleveland in the loss to the Pacers. However, he'll begin the team's postseason run in the second unit against Miami on Sunday.

Tyson closed with 31 points (12-25 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals in 46 minutes during Sunday's 126-118 double-overtime loss to the Pacers.

Tyson made his third start of the season Sunday with theCavaliers resting their top rotational players. Tyson has been used sparingly by the Cavaliers this season, with an average of 9.6 minutes across 47 appearances. Still, he made the most of his extended run Sunday with multiple career highs. Tyson is unlikely to crack the playoff rotation for Cleveland, however.
