Mets' Sean Manaea: Rediscovers arm slot over offseason
RotowireManaea worked with Tread Athletics this offseason and believes he's rediscovered his ideal arm slot, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Manaea experienced a breakthrough in 2024 with a lowered arm slot, but he struggled in 2025 after lowering his arm slot even further. He's now got it back closer to where it was in 2024 and said it's "definitely cleaned up and feels a lot better now." The left-hander dealt with a loose body in his elbow last season and didn't have surgery, so the possibility exists that the issue will resurface in 2026. However, Manaea is fully healthy right now and feels good about where he is early on inMets camp.
... See More... See LessMets' Christian Scott: Faces hitters Monday
RotowireScott (elbow) threw approximately 30 pitches in his first live batting practice session of spring training Monday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Per Albanese,Mets manager Carlos Mendoza noted that Scott hit 95 miles per hour with his fastball and flashed an impressive cutter during the throwing session. Though Scott looks to be fully healthy after missing the entire 2025 season while recovering from a September 2024 Tommy John surgery with an internal brace, Mendoza noted that the 26-year-old righty is uncertain to head north with the big club for Opening Day. Given the Mets' ample starting depth along with the fact that he's coming off a major injury and has minor-league options remaining, Scott could find himself on the outside looking in for a rotation spot. Before requiring the elbow procedure, Scott performed adequately over his nine starts with the Mets in 2024, logging a 4.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB in 47.1 innings.
... See More... See LessMets' Ben Rortvedt: Scooped up by New York
RotowireTheMets claimedRortvedt off waivers Sunday.
Rortvedt has been continually on the move during the offseason, and he's now been claimed via waivers for a third time since the beginning of November. The 28-year-old likely won't have much roster security with the Mets since Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens are locked in as the big club's top catchers.
... See More... See LessMets' Dedniel Nunez: Lands on 60-day IL
RotowireTheMets placedNunez (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Sunday.
The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for catcher Ben Rortvedt, whom the Mets claimed off waivers from the Dodgers on Sunday. The move won't affect Nunez's timeline for a return, as the 29-year-old right-hander is likely to miss most, if not all, of the 2026 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery July 14.
... See More... See LessMets' Kodai Senga: Looking good early in camp
RotowireSenga appears to be further ahead of otherMets pitchers in camp and has already been hitting 92 mph with his fastball, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Having Senga healthy and effective would be a huge boost to the rotation, but the 33-year-old right-hander has a lot to prove in 2026. He began last season with a brilliant 1.47 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 70:31 K:BB through his first 13 starts and 73.2 innings, but after landing on the IL due to a hamstring injury in mid-June, Senga couldn't put things back together. He posted a 5.90 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 39:24 K:BB over his final nine outings and 39.2 innings after being activated from the IL before spending September trying to correct his mechanics at Triple-A Syracuse even with the Mets trying to make a playoff push. If Senga can rediscover his early 2025 form, or his form from 2023, he would give New York a true top-of-the-rotation presence alongside Freddy Peralta.
... See More... See LessMets' Francisco Alvarez: Drops pounds, will keep new stance
RotowireAlvarez said Friday that he lost 8-to-10 pounds this offseason after changing his diet, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Alvarez also added that he worked with director of hitting Jeff Albert in the offseason and plans to keep the batting stance he used down the stretch last season. The young catcher was demoted to Triple-A Syracuse for a while after struggling, and when he returned he went back to his old stance and slashed .276/.360/.561 with eight home runs in his final 40 games. Still just 24, Alvarez is a viable candidate to take a step forward in 2026. He underwent right thumb UCL surgery after the season but reported to spring training at full health.
... See More... See LessMets' Tylor Megill: Goes on 60-day injured list
RotowireTheMets placedMegill (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for MJ Melendez, who signing became official Thursday. Megill will miss the entire 2026 season following September 2025 Tommy John surgery.
... See More... See LessMets' Ronny Mauricio: Might be Opening Day shortstop
RotowireMauricio will be one of the top candidates to replace Francisco Lindor (hand) at shortstop early in the season, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Vidal Brujan appears to be the other likely replacement for Lindor, with Grae Kessinger and Jackson Cluff also in the mix. Mauricio missed the entire 2024 season due to a torn ACL and struggled to make consistent contact last year in the majors after his return, managing a .662 OPS in 184 plate appearances with theMets while mainly playing third base. With the injury another year further behind him, the 24-year-old may be staring at his last chance to regain the upside that made him one of the organization's top prospects prior to blowing out his knee. Mauricio should at least be locked into a bench spot on the Opening Day roster, even if doesn't become the primary replacement for Lindor.
... See More... See LessMets' Vidal Brujan: Could get early look at shortstop
RotowireBrujan is one of the top candidates to fill in for Francisco Lindor (hand) at shortstop, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Ronny Mauricio, Grae Kessinger and Jackson Cluff will also be in the mix for spring reps at short while Lindor recovers from hamate bone surgery. Brujan has experience all over the diamond as a utility player and posted a UZR/150 of 4.6 over 237 innings at shortstop with the Marlins in 2024, and the switch hitter might be theMets' best defensive option to cover for Lindor.
... See More... See LessMets' Bo Bichette: Will remain at third base for now
RotowireBichette isn't expected to take any reps at shortstop while Francisco Lindor (hand) is sidelined, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
TheMets don't believe Lindor will miss much regular-season action, so they'll keep Bichette at the hot corner and let him adapt to a new defensive position without interruption. That plan could change, however, if Lindor has any kind of setback. Bichette has never played a professional game at third base, but he did handle second base during the Blue Jays' run to the World Series last season without much difficulty.
... See More... See LessMets' Jorge Polanco: Likely to hit cleanup
RotowirePolanco is a strong candidate to bat cleanup for theMets this season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Francisco Lindor (hand), Juan Soto and Bo Bichette will occupy the first three spots in the Mets' batting order, so if Polanco does indeed hit cleanup he would be in line for loads of RBI opportunities. Polanco collected a .265/.326/.495 slash line with 26 home runs and 78 RBI over 138 regular-season contests for the Mariners in 2025. He is slated to split time between first base and designated hitter in 2026.
... See More... See LessMets' Bo Bichette: Expected to bat third
RotowireMets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that he's leaning toward battingBichette third this season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
He'll be preceded by Francisco Lindor (hand) and Juan Soto and likely followed by Jorge Polanco. It's a phenomenal RBI spot for Bichette, who slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs and 94 RBI over 139 regular-season games for Toronto in 2025. Bichette will primarily play third base for the Mets this season, although he could be needed at shortstop early in the year if Lindor's recovery from hamate bone surgery lingers past Opening Day.
... See More... See LessMets' Francisco Lindor: Slated for hamate bone surgery
RotowireMets manager Carlos Mendoza said thatLindor will undergo right hamate bone surgery Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
President of baseball operations David Stearns noted Tuesday that surgery for Lindor was a possibility, and it's now confirmed that the shortstop will be going under the knife. Rehab is expected to take six weeks, and while the Mets are optimistic Lindor will be ready for Opening Day, it's hardly a sure thing. If Lindor needs to miss time, the Mets could shift Bo Bichette over to shortstop and install Brett Baty at third base.

CBS Sports Jeff HochmanMets' A.J. Minter: Expected to miss first month
RotowireMets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Tuesday that the team is targeting early May forMinter's (lat) season debut, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
Minter will get a late start to the season after undergoing left lat surgery last May. It's not clear where the veteran reliever is at in his throwing program, but he will be slow-played during spring training before eventually going out on a rehab assignment. Once healthy, Minter will fill a setup role ahead of closer Devin Williams.
... See More... See LessMets' Juan Soto: Moving to left field
RotowireMets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Tuesday thatSoto will move to left field this season, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Though he has predominately played right field in his career, Soto was a full-time left fielder as recently as 2023, so it should not be a difficult transition. Soto finished last among qualifiers with a minus-12 Outs Above Average in right field last season. Stearns mentioned Carson Benge, Brett Baty, Tyrone Taylor and MJ Melendez as potential candidates to start in right field for the Mets in 2026.
... See More... See LessMets' Francisco Lindor: Could require hamate bone surgery
RotowireMets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Tuesday thatLindor (elbow) is being evaluated for a possible stress reaction in his left hamate bone and could require surgery, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
If an operation is needed, Lindor would need six weeks to recover. In that instance, Stearns said it's possible Lindor would be ready in time for Opening Day, but it would be a tight window given that the Mets' opener is just over six weeks away. Lindor is also coming back from a right elbow debridement procedure that he had last October, one from which he seems to be fully recovered. If Lindor gets a late start to the season, the Mets could slide Bo Bichette over to shortstop and install Brett Baty at third base.
... See More... See LessMets' Reed Garrett: Goes on 60-day IL
RotowireTheMets placedGarrett (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
The transaction frees up a 40-man roster spot for the addition of Bryan Hudson. Garrett underwent UCL reconstruction surgery in October and will miss the entire 2026 season.
... See More... See LessMets' Bryan Hudson: Traded to Mets
RotowireTheMets acquiredHudson from the White Sox on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Hudson had been designated for assignment last week. The big left-hander spent much of 2025 in the minors and posted a 4.80 ERA and 19:13 K:BB over 15 frames during his time at the big-league level. However, he held a 1.73 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in 2024, so the Mets will try to coax that level of performance out of Hudson again.
... See More... See LessMets' Tobias Myers: Entering camp as starting pitcher
RotowireMyers said Tuesday that he was told by theMets to plan on stretching back out as a starting pitcher during spring training, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Acquired from the Brewers last month, Myers' final 14 regular-season appearances last season came out of the bullpen. While the Mets might ultimately decide to deploy him as a reliever, they want Myers to be prepared to start, if needed. The right-hander collected a 3.55 ERA and 38:15 K:BB over 50.2 regular-season frames covering six starts and 16 relief outings for the Brewers in 2025.
