White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: Focused on getting on base
RotowireBenintendi anticipates focusing on getting on base rather than hitting for power in 2026, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Benintendi has hit 20 home runs in consecutive seasons, but he's gotten on base at just a .289 and .307 clip during those two campaigns. He explained that he felt added pressure to deliver power based on the lack of pop elsewhere in theWhite Sox's lineup, something that is expected to change in 2026 with Colson Montgomery and Munetaka Murakami a part of the everyday starting nine. Benintendi shed weight this offseason to take pressure off his Achilles, after suffering an injury in July that nagged him for the rest of the 2025 season.

RotowireVoth signed a minor-league contract with theWhite Sox on Friday and received an invitation to spring training, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Voth will return to the United States to audition for the White Sox after spending 2025 in Japan, where he posted a 3.88 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 130 innings. The 33-year-old righty owns a 4.70 ERA in his seven-year MLB career, but he could still capture a spot in Chicago's Opening Day bullpen with a strong spring.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Munetaka Murakami: Could play some third base
RotowireWhite Sox manager Will Venable said Friday that he expectsMurakami to play "some" at third base, but "most of his time will be spent at first," Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Third base was Murakami's primary position in Japan, but he's seen as a defensive liability there and is a better roster fit at first base for the White Sox. However, it's possible the 26-year-old sees enough action at the hot corner in order to earn eligibility at the position for 2027. Miguel Vargas is slated to be the team's everyday third baseman.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Munetaka Murakami: Getting up to speed
RotowireMurakami will have his Cactus League debut delayed until Feb. 28, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
It was always theWhite Sox's plan to bring Murakami along slowly as he adjusts to his first season stateside, though Feb. 28 represents a later exhibition debut than originally anticipated. There doesn't appear to be any cause for concern at this point, as he's still expected to appear in a few Cactus League games before playing in the World Baseball Classic.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Drew Thorpe: Dealing with elbow tendinitis
RotowireThorpe has been slowed by tendinitis in his surgically repaired right elbow, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Thorpe missed all of the 2025 season after having Tommy John surgery last March, and he's hit a speed bump in his recovery. The right-hander is not currently shut down, as he's scheduled for three flat-ground throwing sessions this week and is hopeful he's cleared to throw off a mound within the next three weeks. Thorpe still have a chance to contribute for theWhite Sox during the first half, but he can't afford any more setbacks.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Prelander Berroa: Has thrown off mound three times
RotowireBerroa (elbow) has thrown off a mound three times so far as he continues his rehab from Tommy John surgery, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Berroa missed all of 2025 after having the operation last March. He will begin the 2026 season on the injured list but should rejoin theWhite Sox' bullpen during the first half if all continues to go well with his rehab.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Noah Schultz: Clear of knee issue
RotowireSchultz (knee) said Tuesday that he's completed his rehab for right knee tendinitis and is ready for the start of spring training, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
The left-hander, who is one of theWhite Sox's top prospects, was shut down in September due to right knee tendinitis, but it won't affect his availability for the start of 2026. Schultz spent most of the campaign at Double-A Birmingham and had a 3.06 ERA across 61.2 innings, but he struggled after being promoted to Triple-A Charlotte with a 9.37 ERA over five starts.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Erick Fedde: Signs with ChiSox
RotowireTheWhite Sox signedFedde to a one-year contract Monday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Fedde, of course, spent the 2023 season in the KBO before returning to the majors in 2024 with the White Sox, where Fedde experienced success prior to being dealt to the Cardinals at the trade deadline that summer. Fedde was knocked around with St. Louis and pitched for three different teams in 2025, posting an ugly 5.49 ERA and 83:67 K:BB across 141 innings. The White Sox and Fedde will hope he can recapture some of that previous success again in 2026. He'll compete for a spot in the rotation this spring.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Mike Vasil: Will compete for rotation role
RotowireVasil is stretching out as a starter and will compete for a rotation spot this spring, he recently said on the Baseball isn't Boring Podcast.
Vasil made three traditional starts in 2025 but primarily worked as a multi-inning reliever. He allowed eight earned runs across 11 innings as a starter, and he also had a 12.3 percent walk rate across 101 total innings. Those factors suggest Vasil might be best suited to stick in a relief role, but he'll have the chance to prove otherwise this spring.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Drew Romo: Receives outright assignment
RotowireRomo cleared waivers Friday and has been outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte while receiving a non-roster invite to spring training, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Romo was designated for assignment Sunday, and after clearing waivers, he'll remain within the organization. The 24-year-old catcher will join theWhite Sox at spring training as a non-roster invitee. Romo spent most of the 2025 season with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque, where he slashed .264/329/.409 with seven homers, 23 RBI, 28 runs scored and two stolen bases across 244 plate appearances.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Jairo Iriarte: Clears waivers
RotowireIriarte cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte while receiving a non-roster invite to spring training, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Iriarte was designated for assignment Sunday, and after going unclaimed on waivers, he'll remain within theWhite Sox organization. The 24-year-old right-hander spent most of the 2025 season at Triple-A Charlotte, posting a 7.24 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 48:37 K:BB across 46 innings spanning 35 appearances.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Bryan Hudson: DFA'd by ChiSox
RotowireTheWhite Sox designatedHudson for assignment Wednesday.
The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Austin Hays, whose signing was made official Wednesday. Hudson was a key reliever for the Brewers in 2024, but he regressed in 2025, spending much of the year in the minors and collecting a 4.80 ERA and 19:13 K:BB over 15 frames during his time at the big-league level. The 6-foot-8 lefty doesn't have minor-league options remaining, but his 1.73 ERA and 0.72 WHIP from 2024 could be enough to garner some interest on the waiver wire.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Grant Taylor: Aiming for 100 innings in 2026
RotowireTaylor has a goal of reaching 100 innings in 2026, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
TheWhite Sox will deploy Taylor as a reliever this season before transitioning him back to a starting role in 2027. He threw a total of 63.1 innings in 2025 between the majors and minors, which was a career high after he dealt with numerous injuries in previous seasons. Many of Taylor's appearances in 2026 could come in long relief since that's the best way to build his workload, but the White Sox haven't ruled out giving him some high-leverage opportunities, as well. It's a role that might not lead to much fantasy value during the upcoming season, but Taylor's upside remains high.

CBS Sports Chris TowersWhite Sox's Drew Romo: DFA'd by White Sox
RotowireTheWhite Sox designatedRomo for assignment Sunday.
The 24-year-old catcher was claimed off waivers by Chicago in early January and will now go through the waiver process once again. Romo has also spent time on the rosters of the Rockies, Orioles and Mets this offseason. He spent most of 2025 at the Triple-A level and had a .738 OPS in 244 plate appearances.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Jairo Iriarte: Designated for assignment
RotowireTheWhite Sox designatedIriarte for assignment Sunday.
The right-hander received his first taste of the majors late in 2024 and gave up one earned run with a 6:8 K:BB over six innings. Iriarte failed to make Chicago's Opening Day roster last spring and stumbled to a 7.24 ERA and 7.2 BB/9 with Triple-A Charlotte in 2025, which has now cost him his place on the 40-man roster.

CBS Sports Dayn PerryWhite Sox's David Sandlin: Traded to White Sox
RotowireTheWhite Sox are acquiringSandlin, Jordan Hicks (shoulder), two players-to-be-named and cash from the Red Sox on Sunday in exchange for Gage Ziehl and a player-to-be-named, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Sandlin was added to Boston's 40-man roster in November in order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft, and he'll now make his way to Chicago. The right-hander had a 3.61 ERA across 82.1 innings at the Double-A level last season but struggled to a 7.61 ERA upon being promoted to Triple-A. Sandlin is likely to return to the Triple-A level to begin 2026 but will be in big-league camp with the White Sox, so he'll have an outside chance of cracking the Opening Day roster.
... See More... See LessWhite Sox's Jordan Hicks: Dealt to White Sox
RotowireTheWhite Sox are acquiringHicks (shoulder), David Sandlin, two players-to-be-named and cash from the Red Sox on Sunday in exchange for Gage Ziehl and a player-to-be-named, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Hicks was shipped from San Francisco to Boston in the Rafael Devers trade last year and is now on the move once again. The right-hander signed a four-year, $44.83 million contract with the Giants in January of 2024 to serve as a starter, and he pitched decently that year with a 4.10 ERA across 109.2 innings. However, he struggled early last year and was shifted to the bullpen, finishing the regular season with a 6.95 ERA over 67.1 frames between the Giants and Red Sox. According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Red Sox are covering $8 million of Hicks' salary across the remaining two years of his contract. The 29-year-old missed most of September due to shoulder tendinitis but should be ready for the start of spring training since he was back to throwing before the end of the season.
