Player Outlook
Eugenio Suarez clubbed 49 home runs this past season -- the second time in his career that he's reached that mark -- and accrued a career-high 118 RBI and 91 runs scored. Dating back to July 2024, Suarez has hit 73 home runs, a total bested only by Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber over that stretch. The 34-year-old fared much worse after he was dealt back to Seattle at the trade deadline (.189/.255/.428) than he did in Arizona (.248/.320/.576), which wasn't a big surprise given the ballpark downgrade. Now back with Cincinnati on a one-year deal, he'll be a good bet for 30-plus homers, particularly when factoring in his nearly flawless health track record. Just be prepared to ride the highs and lows he'll undoubtedly experience.

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Taking first base reps
RotowireSuarez is taking reps at first base to start each day of spring training, Charlie Goldsmith of The Dayton Daily News reports. "I'm a guy who likes work," Suarez said. "I want to be better at first base. I know they're going to need me there."Suarez is still likely to get most of his starts as the Reds' designated hitter, with Ke'Bryan Hayes starting at third base and either Sal Stewart or Spencer Steer playing first base, but every bit of flexibility helps. Suarez played the first three games at first base of his major league career last season.... See More... See LessReds' Eugenio Suarez: Inks one-year deal with Cincinnati
RotowireSuarez and the Reds agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract Sunday that includes a $16 million mutual option for the 2027 season, pending a physical, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.Suarez will reunite with the Reds, whom he spent seven seasons with from 2015 to 2021 before being traded to the Mariners in March of 2022. Passan relays that Suarez will likely see most of his at-bats as the Reds' designated hitter but should also get some reps at the corners. Suarez ended the 2025 season with the Mariners after being traded by the Diamondbacks in July. His .896 OPS with Arizona dipped noticeably to .683 with Seattle, and he ended the 2025 regular season having posted a .228/.298/.526 slash line with four steals, 91 runs, 49 home runs and 118 RBI over 657 plate appearances.... RotowireSuarez went 2-for-3 with two home runs, five RBI and a walk during Friday's win over Toronto in Game 5 of the ALCS.Suarez put the Mariners on the board with a solo blast off Kevin Gausman in the second inning. However, the highlight of the third baseman's night was a grand slam that gave Seattle a commanding 6-2 lead in the eighth inning. Even after sending two balls over the fence Friday, Suarez carries just a .706 OPS through 43 plate appearances in the postseason, which is still an improvement over the .683 OPS he recorded during the regular season while in a Mariners uniform.... RotowireSuarez went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Rockies.Suarez has gone 12-for-30 (.400) with four homers and eight RBI over his last eight games. The third baseman is up to 49 long balls on the year, matching his career high from the 2019 season, when he was with the Reds. He has added 117 RBI and 91 runs scored, which are also personal bests, while slashing .233/.304/.537 across 156 contests between the Mariners and the Diamondbacks this year.... See More... RotowireSuarez went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Royals.Suarez broke out in a big way -- he entered Wednesday having gone hitless in his last eight games following a two-homer performance Sept. 7 in Atlanta. The All-Star third baseman still has time to turn in the first 50-homer campaign of his career, as he's up to 46 big flies in 2025. That said, Suarez has a miserable .453 OPS over 23 home games since joining Seattle, but his .904 OPS across 20 contests on the road has kept his fantasy value afloat.... See More... RotowireSuarez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, a stolen base and a second run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Padres. After scoring the game's opening run on a Luke Raley double in the second inning, Suarez extended Seattle's lead to 4-0 with his 42nd homer this season, a 382-foot shot off Yu Darvish. Suarez has now homered in back-to-back games after going 0-for-8 in his previous three contests. Overall, he's slashing .237/.309/.549 with 104 RBI, 78 runs scored and four stolen bases across 537 plate appearances between the Mariners and Diamondbacks this year.... See More... RotowireSuarez went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Padres.Suarez sparked Seattle with a go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning, but the momentum was short-lived as San Diego answered back in the sixth inning and held on for the win. Since being dealt from Arizona at the trade deadline, the third baseman has struggled to replicate his previous success, slashing .174/.250/.395 with four doubles, five homers and 14 RBI across 24 games in his second career stint in a Mariners uniform.... RotowireSuarez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.Suarez reached the 40-homer mark for the second time in his career when he went yard in the fifth inning. The third baseman's return to Seattle started off slow, but he's picked up the pace lately, hitting safely in eight of the last nine games. He's 10-for-34 (.294) with three homers in that time, though this was his first home game in that span. Suarez has a .238/.306/.548 slash line with 98 RBI, 74 runs scored, three stolen bases and 23 doubles over 126 games between the Mariners and Diamondbacks this year. He's been slumping a bit, batting just .143 (7-for-49) over his last 13 games dating back to July 21 when he was still with Arizona, though four of his hits in that span have gone for extra bases. He's also racked up 19 strikeouts during the slump. The third baseman is at a .243/.314/.565 slash line with 37 homers, 89 RBI, 68 runs scored and two steals through 111 contests this season.... Suarez might miss working from hitter-friendly Chase Field -- the All-Star third baseman posted a 1.011 OPS in 54 home games with Arizona -- but he should have plenty of RBI chances going forward despite shifting to pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park with Seattle.... RotowireSuarez (finger) had an MRI and CT scan come back negative Tuesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.Suarez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury after being hit by a pitch on the right index finger Monday. The injury still clouds the third baseman's outlook ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, but his potential return to the lineup Wednesday could help facilitate a deal. According to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic, manager Torey Lovullo wouldn't commit to Suarez being available to pinch hit Tuesday, but it sounds as though he could be utilized if he can test out his swing with no issues....
