Fans of Amazon'sCitadel TV series are in for some bad news when it comes to the future of the spy thriller franchise. The new season has been delayed, and its various spin-offs are now being put on hold.

Castle is Amazon'sspy television series starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra as elite agents of Citadel, a global intelligence organization. After they are seemingly killed in action, they have their memories wiped, and eight years later find themselves drawn back into their dangerous line of work. The first season's six episodes had a production budget of $300 million, making it one of the most expensive TV shows ever made — and thatastronomical budget is likely one of the reasons why new episodes are under scrutiny by Amazon.

The next season of Paradise is expected to premiere in early 2026.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that, according to an insider, Amazon MGM is movingCitadel Season 2 back from a planned Fall 2025 release to Spring 2026 because they are "unhappy with what they have seen so far of Season 2." Amazon had no comment regarding the insider's claims. In addition, allCitadel spin-off series are now on hold "until the second season is released, if not indefinitely".

With its international spy thriller premise,Citadel was originally intended to have multiple spin-off series in different languages. An Italian series (Citadel: Diana) and an Indian series (Citadel: Honey Bunny) aired in October and November 2024, respectively. Other countries intended to be a part of theCitadel banner included Spain and Mexico, but those shows both appear to be on the back burner for now.
