The Many Saints of Newark star Michael Gandolfini is taking on one of his biggest roles yet as one of the cast members of the anticipated seriesDaredevil: Born Again.

PerTHR, Gandolfini, the son ofThe Sopranos star James Gandolfini, spoke about the new MCU show at the premiere ofDaredevil: Born Again. That's only compounded by working with creatives from the original show to help him adapt to fitting into the world ofDaredevil.

Marvel Exec Reveals What's Holding Back Tom Holland's Spider-Man From Appearing in MCU Disney+ Shows

Marvel executive and producer Brad Winderbaum confirms why Spider-Man can't feature in any Disney+ series.

"It's a big responsibility, right? You feel the pressure of bringing something completely new in," he said. "You want to further the story, but you also want to respect the past. I was a huge fan [of theoriginalDaredevil show] as 16-year-old, going to high school, and now I get to be in it. So, it's a lot of pressure, but, honestly, you get to work with amazing actors. You get to work with people who that take you along, and can show you, 'This is how we did it previously. This is the vibe. This is the tone.' And you just follow them. So, it truly is a dream come true."

So, it truly is a dream come true.

WhenDaredevil: Born Again was first put into development, it was not planned to be a direct continuation of the original show on Netflix. Partway through production, however, the show was given a complete creative overhaul, resulting in the series officially acknowledging the originalDaredevil as MCU canon. Gandolfini addressed howBorn Again serves as a sequel to the show he was such a big fan of as a teenager, clarifying how it stillfeels like a new series in a way, given how much time has passed since the OG show.

Why The Fantastic Four's 2015 Version Failed and How the MCU Can Avoid the Same Mistakes

The Fantastic Four (2015)'s behind the scenes issues led to box office failure. Here's what the MCU should watch out for.

"I would absolutely say it's a continuation," Gandolfini noted. "This is picking up years after the original show. It's not a Season 4. It is new people, it's a new world, time has changed. But, it absolutely is a continuation of the feelings, the people, and the story arcs that were happening in the original, just, they're 10 years later, and what's going on now. So, that's where some of the new people come in and shake things up."

Michael Gandolfini Is Playing Daniel Blake

It was previously reported that Gandolfini would be playing Daniel Blake, a protégé of Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk. The actor shared how it felt taking on the role in the THR interview.

"I was so excited," he said. "I really wanted to bring an authentic, sort of New York feeling to it. I wanted to bring this very exciting, very younger vibe to it, but he kind of gets right into the middle of the snake pit, and maybe he doesn't even realize it until it's too late. But, it really is an amazing character to play, and I love him."
