The only thing more iconic than a superhero themselves or a super-team is the place a superhero calls their home. In the Marvel Comics Universe, there are several buildings, countries and homes that superheroes use to plan out their missions, gather intel and take time to heal after a particularly difficult battle.

Some of these places have been fortunate enough to get a live action debut in the MCU and beyond, but there are others still that have yet to make an appearance. Today is the day that fans get to see our picks for the ten best and most iconic Marvel superhero bases.
10 S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier

One of the more well-known spots in the Marvel Universe and beyond is none other than the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. A notorious flying air base for the secret spy organization and heroic espionage agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Helicarrier is primarily used by the top spy himself, Nick Fury.
However, the Helicarrier has been used by many other heroes over the years, including Captain America himself, Steve Rodgers. It has been used as a meeting place for the Avengers, including in the firstAvengers film in the MCU back in 2012.
9 Baxter Building

One of the most iconic spots in the Marvel universe belongs to the Marvel Comics team known as the first superhero family ever, the Fantastic Four. Known as the Baxter Building, it is the headquarters of the FF and the Future Foundation.
First housing the core team of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, the headquarters is not only a home but houses one of the most powerful labs in the world, run by Mr. Fantastic himself and his brilliant children. It also houses a portal in the lab that can teleport into the infamous Negative Zone.
8 Atlantis

There are a few instances in the comic book world where a location will be found to exist in both Marvel and DC Comics. One such place is none other than Atlantis, the underwater kingdom known throughout mythology. While DC finds Atlantis to be the home of Aquaman, Marvel sees Atlantis as the home of Namor the Sub-Mariner.
The ruler of Atlantis, Namor is a complex character that has been both hero and foe throughout the Marvel Universe. Willing to do whatever it takes to protect his kingdom and the oceans, he has fought alongside and against the Avengers.
7 Parker Industries

One of the newer areas of the Marvel Universe that had become a well known location was Parker Industries. Established by Otto Octavius during the time he was inhabiting Peter Parker’s body (as the Superior Spider-Man), Peter eventually took the reins as the owner after he regained his own body back.
The company faced a lot of challenges, but it’s most recent one saw the headquarters nearly destroyed, (on multiple continents), during the Secret Empire storyline. When Otto returns as Superior Octopus wanting the company, Peter refuses and the Hydra aligned Otto fights Peter until Peter destroys the company.
6 Asgard

One of the most mythological sites in the Marvel Universe has to be Asgard, home to Thor and the rest of the Asgardians of the Marvel Universe. Home to Odin and the Asgardian gods, the kingdom is known for many important things, including connecting the other nine realms of the Marvel Universe using the Bifrost Bridge.

MCU fans will know this place well, as it played prominently in the entire Thor franchise and beyond. InThor: Ragnarok, fans witnessed the end of an era when Thor sacrificed his home in order to save the surviving Asgardians from his sister Hela.
5 Wakanda

There may be no kingdom more popular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comics right now than the kingdom of Wakanda. The nation and home of Black Panther himself King T’Challa, the kingdom was prominent not only in his own film, but in the last two Avengers films in the MCU.
A technologically advanced kingdom, the nation has seen a lot of upheaval and struggles since revealing itself to the world at large. In more recent comics Wakanda has become the biggest supporter and benefactor of the Avengers, after the United States failed to support the new team again.
4 Sanctum Sanctorum

One of the more prominent locations in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comics has to be the Sanctum Sanctorum, the home of the master of the mystic artist himself, Doctor Strange. A former star surgeon who became the acting Sorcerer Supreme, Strange is the strongest defender against magic based and dimensional based threats, including the dreaded Dormammu.

The headquarters of Doctor Strange was featured a lot in the MCU, appearing not only in his own film but inThor: Ragnarok, and bothAvengers: Infinity War andAvengers: Endgame. It is one of the strongest defenses against magical based threats.
3 Avengers Mansion

A truly iconic location in the Marvel Universe has to be none other than the Avengers Mansion. Originally the family home of the Starks, it was eventually inherited by Tony Stark himself. When he began his career as Iron Man and helped form the original Avengers, he donated the family mansion to the team and used it to house the team and all their equipment.

Maintained and operated by real life family friend and butler Edwin Jarvis, the Avengers Mansion would see many repairs and restorations over the years, after countless battles and destruction saw the building ultimately destroyed throughout.
2 Charles Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters

The second most iconic location in the known Marvel Universe has to be the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Also known by it’s nickname as the X-Mansion, the large scale home of Charles Xavier and the school for young mutants serves as the first headquarters of the X-Men as well.
While the X-Men would later find other schools and even their own nations like Utopia in the comics, the X-Mansion would remain an iconic staple of the franchise, including the live action Marvel/Fox Cinematic Universe, where many iconic storylines played out on big screens.
1 Avengers Tower

The most iconic location in all of the Marvel Universe has to be none other than Avengers Tower. Originally called Stark Tower, it was built primarily to be an extension of the Stark Industries business and was to house Tony Stark’s bachelor lifestyle on the top three floors. However upon becoming a hero Tony donated the building to the Avengers after the Avengers Mansion was destroyed.
Taken care of by Edwin Jarvis once more, the Tower once housed the Watchtower of the hero The Sentry, and more recently housed the observatory of Heimdall. It is a staple of the MCU.
