Here is a fact-based summary of the story contents:
Try something different:

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has found plenty of clever ways to incorporate a truly staggering amount of comic concepts and characters throughout the franchise, even when they're not the focus. Plenty of minor characters have gotten the big-screen treatment, even if some have changed along the way. For example,Jentorra is one ofAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'sdeep cuts to the original comics.

In fact, the movie adapts a relatively minor Microverse character into a freedom fighter in the Quantum Realm. But her comics counterpart has a deeper connection to the Hulk than she ever had with Ant-Man. And the role Jentorra's family played in the comics could be an interesting place tolet the MCU's Hulk loose.

Who Is Jentorra in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania?

Jentorra is introduced as the leader of the Quantum Realm's freedom fighters, some of the only beings left in the dimension fighting against Kang's rule. She mentions being among the last people fighting against him, noting that the bones of her resistance's families lie beneath Kang's empire. After discovering Scott and Hope upon their arrival within the Quantum Realm, Jentorra and her allies reluctantly bring them into their protection briefly -- until Kang andhis servant MODOK capture Jentorra alongside Ant-Man and his daughter.

Held within Kang's containment center, Jentorra eventually escapes alongside Cassie and is able to help ensure Cassie gets the word out to rebel against Kang, giving the heroes the reinforcements they need to rout the villain. Jentorra takes part in the battle against Kang (even briefly facing off with him) and ultimately seems to survive the conflict -- likely returning to her role asa leader in the Quantum Realm. Jentorra plays a minor but important role throughout the film, working alongside the extended family unit of Ant-Men and Wasps. But her comics counterpart was far closer tied to a different Marvel hero.

What Jentorra's Comics Counterparts Could Tease About Her MCU Future

MCU Jentorra Comics Counterpart

In the comics, Jentorra hails from the K'ai Kingdom in the Microverse, which functionally operates similarly to the Quantum Realm of the MCU. But while the dimension can be discovered using Pym Particles, Jentorra and her aunt Jarella have encountered the Hulk far more than Ant-Man. During a battle with the villainous Psyklop inThe Incredible Hulk #140 (by Harlan Ellison, Roy Thomas, Herb Trimpe, Sam Grainger and Artie Simek), the Jade Giant was shrunk down to the Microverse and encountered Jentorra's kingdom. Quickly developing a romance with her, the Hulk eventually brought Jentorra with him to the larger Marvel Universe -- only for her to promptly sacrifice her life to save an innocent boy, effectively becoming Hulk's answer to Gwen Stacy. The comics Jentorra debuted decades after her aunt's demise, accidentally dragging the Hulk's villainous son Hiro-Kala into the Microverse and eventually joining the Enigma Force (otherwise known as the Micronauts) to fight against him.

The comics and film versions of Jentorra share some specific similarities, such as being members of teams of resistance fighters in the tiny dimension within a larger Marvel Universe. The film also takes some liberties with the character, such as discarding her distinct Hulk-like green skin and seemingly removing some of her powers (while giving her some of Jarella's comic skills). There's also the chance that withthe Quantum Realm now a safer place to travel to, thanks to the Pyms and Langs helping defeat Kang, the Hulk could eventually make his way down to that realm for exploration. That could even utilize the plot ofIncredible Hulks: Enigma Force, bringing Hulk to the Microverse to work alongside Jentorra and her allies.

If that's the case, Jentorra could fill the role her aunt played in the original comics, potentially finding some sparks with the MCU incarnation of the Hulk. However, the decision to utilize Jentorra over Jarella may have been a means of removing the potential threat to the Hulk. That could be backed up by Jentorra's suggestion that her family was among those slaughtered by Kang, hinting that the MCU Jarella was long dead before she ever met any Marvel heroes. Still, a setting as flexible and bizarre as the MCU could easily set up some interdimensional travel for the Hulk, and the MCU may have set up their own version of one of his most tragic love stories.

To see Jentorra's MCU debut, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now playing.
