DC Universe actorJason Momoa has responded to rumors that his DC dream project is secretly aLobo film.

After teasing hisupcoming DC dream project earlier this week, Momoa was asked during an exclusive interview with CBR's Brandon Zachary to "blink twice" if the project involved the fan-favorite bounty hunter Lobo. "Well I have to obviously blink, so there’s no way I can get out of this without blinking, but you know that would be amazing if that happened," Momoa admitted. "I’m just happy that [James] Gunn is at the helm and [Peter] Safran, who is just like my heart. So I'm in good hands and I think comic book fans around the world are going to be very excited."

Momoa continued to tease the mystery project, hinting, "It's definitely something I've collected my whole life. So, for all the fans who know me will know that I collect this comic book the most. So without giving you anything, if you’re a real fan you’d know what I collect the most, and you can go back in history to find out what I collect the most."

Rumors of aDCU project involving Lobo first emerged after Gunn posted a picture of the character on the social media platform Mastodon. When Momoa was previously asked in an interview about the timing between Gunn's post and his own DC announcement, he remained coy, only hinting that his DC project would involve the comic that he collects the most. However, in his interview with CBR, he divulged some new and tantalizing details, specifically that "comic book fans around the world are going to be very excited" when the project is officially announced and that it "would be amazing if [Lobo] happened." Momoa haslong expressed his interest in playing Lobo, with comments dating back to before he was officially cast as Aquaman in 2014.

Who Is Lobo?

Created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in DC Comics'Omega Men#3 in 1983. Originating from the utopian planet of Czarnia, Lobo is a bounty hunter and interstellar mercenary who has crossed paths with countless superheroes such as Superman in both print and television. Lobo has been portrayed several times in animation but has only officially appeared once in live-action, with Emmett J. Scanlan portraying the character in the second season of the Syfy drama seriesKrypton.

While the verdict is still out on whether Momoa's secret project is a Lobo adaptation, fans can still look forward to two upcoming comic book adaptations starring the actor. He will first appear inSlumberland, a live-action fantasy film based on Winsor McCay's comic stripLittle Nemo in Slumberland, which opens in select theaters on Nov. 11, before releasing on Netflix a week later. Momoa will then reprise hisDCU role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the 2023 filmAquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will find the title character reluctantly teaming up with his half-brother Orm to face a stronger Black Manta and his army.

Momoa's dream DC project does not have a release date at this time.
