The following contains major spoilers forAbsolute Batman#6, on sale now from DC Comics.
The Absolute Batman has officially destroyed Black Mask's criminal empire and maybe Black Mask himself.
Absolute Batman#6 marks the culmination of the titular hero's ongoing efforts against Roman Sionis, aka Black Mask, and the Party Animals gang that the villain has been bankrolling. While roving killers prepare to shoot their way through the city for a quick payday, Batman is busy burying his longest blades in Black Mask's ocular cavities. And, while that is only enough to stop the Black Mask himself, burning the apparatus that is responsible for bankrolling the rest of the city's villains is more than enough to put a stop to the rest of the chaos Black Mask caused in mere moments.

Despite only making his original DC Comics debut back in 1985'sBatman#386 by Doug Moench and Tom Mandrak, the villainous Black Mask has made one of the biggest impacts of any member of the Dark Knight's rogues gallery. In the primary DC continuity, Roman Sionis was born into incredible wealth, which his parents used to effectively avoid raising him for themselves. Eventually, the rage and hatred within Roman drove him to murder his parents before using their estate as the basis for his budding criminal empire.
Although it is hard to say how much of this classic origin still holds true in the Absolute Universe, that doesn't matter nearly as much as all the death and destruction he has caused. Apart from bankrolling the Party Animals and encouraging their seemingly random attacks on Gotham City, Black Mask encouraged otherwise ordinary citizens to pick up arms and join in the chaos, promising big cash rewards to the most accomplished of these impromptu assassins.Black Mask was also willing to deal with Batman; he gladly handed over hundreds of millions of dollars as part of a deal in which the Party Animals would ease up on the city so long as the Dark Knight took a temporary step back from crime fighting.

An Underrated DC Powerhouse Has Returned (And He’s Gunning for Captain Atom)
One of the most overpowered and underrated villains in DC history is back in action, and he could be the biggest problem since Absolute Power.
While Black Mask continues to play the role of a villain in the Absolute Universe, the vast majority of Batman's classic enemies have not followed in those same footsteps. Bruce Wayne's closest friends and confidantsconsist of some of Batman's most iconic foes. Among these are Waylon Jones (Killer Croc), Harvey Dent (Two-Face), Edward Nygma (Riddler), and Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin), each of whom Bruce not only grew up with but maintains an unbreakable bond with to this very day. Nygma has gone so far as to introduce Bruce to his homemade artificially intelligent android, the Absolute Universe's Ridder.
