Nordic Design has been a global phenomenon for decades. The design movement emerged in the early 20th century when the Swedish neo-classicism known asSwedish Grace emerged and made its breakthrough at the 1925 Paris exhibition. Nordic Design continued to flourish after the world fairs in Paris 1937 and New York 1939, where design products from Sweden, Finland and Denmark gained international recognition and fame. The termSwedish Modern, which stands for a softer version of modernism, was introduced, and Finnish design solidified its presence on the US market through Alvar Aalto’s Pavilion. The success at the world fairs started the Golden Age of Nordic Design, which would last through the 1970s.

The core of these periods was a deep respect for function, simplicity and quality. By removing the unnecessary, timeless products were created that feel just as modern today as they did decades ago.
