Srikakulam,city, northeasternAndhra Pradesh state, southernIndia. The city lies on a low-lying plain along the Nagavali River, about 5 miles (8 km) from theBay of Bengal.

Srikakulam once served as the capital of a Muslim region that was known as theNorthern Circārs (Northern Sarkārs). Of historical interest is the mosque there, which was constructed in 1641. The city is connected by major roads toVisakhapatnam to the southwest andBhubaneshwar inOdisha state to the northeast. It has several government colleges that areaffiliated with Andhra University inVizianagaram. Pop. (2001) 109,905; (2011) 125,939.
