Farim,town located on the Cacheu River in north-centralGuinea-Bissau. It is a market centre for the agricultural products of the interior;peanut (groundnut) cultivation, concentrated around the town, is mainly for export, and cattle are raised for domesticconsumption in the northernsavannas of the region. There are phosphate deposits near the town. Farim is connected by road toBissau, the national capital, and it marks the limit of navigation of the Cacheu River. Pop. (2004 est.) 41,842.
