Alton Towers to open new 'World of David Walliams' attraction in 2020
Alton Towers has been secretly putting together the latest attraction with HarperCollins books and it will be around the existing Cloud Cuckoo Land area of the Staffordshire resort
A 'World ofDavid Walliams' attraction is to open atAlton Towers Resort.
For those who love Gangsta Granny, Billionaire Boy and Fing, this looks set to be a treat, with work already underway to bring the comic author's books to life at the resort.
For the past two years, the ‘Merlin Magic Making’ creative team has been working with Walliams and HarperCollins Children’s Books to develop the unique headline attraction.
The project will centre around the existing Cloud Cuckoo Land area of the Resort - but Alton Towers bosses are keeping tight-lipped as to any more details of what to expect.

Construction work at the theme park began earlier this year and is shrouded in secrecy. But the theme park said nearly 100 specialists, from Alton Towers’ creative team and external experts in the latesttheme-park technology, are to get it ready for guests by 2020. It will complement the existing CBeebies Land for younger children.

“It’s a huge thrill for some of my favourite characters to be getting their own attractions at Alton Towers.” said David Walliams. “I can’t wait to experience them for myself, and from all the work that has gone in I think people are going to love it. All will be revealed next year.”
The new attraction is set to open in spring 2020.
David Walliams first shot to fame in the early 2000s with Matt Lucas in the comedy sketch show, Little Britain. He has published 12 children's novels and short story collections and picture books since he began writing kids books in 2008. To date, his book sales exceed 33 million copies worldwide and he ended 2018 as the UK’s biggest selling author for the second year running.
