Former Brazil international Ronaldinho has signed for Mexican top-flight club Queretaro.

The2002 World Cup winner,, external who left Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in July, has signed a two-year deal.

"I chose Mexico for the affection I have always received here. I am very motivated to represent Queretaro," Ronaldinho, 34, said onTwitter., external

Conference South sideBasingstoke Town had said they had also made an offer to Ronaldinho, who won 97 caps for Brazil.

Queretaro were almost thrown out of the Mexico League last year following a corruption scandal involving the club's former owner.

They are currently eighth, the final play-off place, in the Liga MX 2014 Apertura tournament after seven games of Mexico's domestic summer season.

Ronaldinho won the Champions League withBarcelona in 2006, external and also played in Europe for Paris St-Germain and AC Milan. He won the Ballon d'Or in 2005.
