Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami missed out on Switzerland's World Cup squad after being named in Ottmar Hitzfeld's standby list.

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri and Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner are named in the squad, along with former Arsenal centre-backs Johan Djourou and Philippe Senderos.

But with no dropouts before the 2 June deadline, Kasami is not Brazil-bound.

Switzerland have been drawn in Group E with Ecuador, France and Honduras.

Only one member of the squad is in their 30s, centre-back Steve von Bergen, who turns 31 five days before their opener with Ecuador.

Hitzfeld guided the Swiss through the qualifying tournament unbeaten and will retire after the World Cup.

The 64-year-old is one of only four coaches to have won the European Cup or Champions League with two different teams, following successful stints with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

The other players on the standby list were Marwin Hitz (Augsburg), Timm Klose (Wolfsburg), Silvan Widmer (Udinese), Eren Derdiyok (Bayer Leverkusen), Fabian Frei (Basel) and Pirmin Schwegler (Eintracht Frankfurt).
