Aston Villa lose fourth successive WSL game
Martin Ho's side level on points with rivals Arsenal
Tottenham came out on top in a 10-goal thriller against Aston Villa in the Women's Super League.
Signe Gaupset opened the scoring after 10 minutes, drilling past Villa goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck at her near post for her first goal since joining the club from SK Brann last month.
Villa equalised five minutes later when Kirsty Hanson latched on to Noelle Maritz's through ball to score her eighth WSL goal of the season.
Tottenham then took charge with two goals inside seven minutes after Bethany England's strike deflected off Anna Patten and looped over Roebuck and Olivia Holdt slotted in from a narrow angle.
With half an hour played, Tottenham had already taken 10 shots with half of them being on target.
The second half was uneventful to start with until the 68th minute when Oriane Jean-Francois' strike deflected in to give Villa hope of a comeback.
Just 12 seconds later, Cathinka Tandberg, who had only been on the pitch for two minutes, restored Tottenham's two-goal cushion.
Maika Hamano raced clear through on goal and rounded Roebuck to slot into an empty net as Tottenham went 5-2 up with 72 minutes played.
Hanson scored her second goal in the 80th minute but it was a mere consolation for a poor Villa side.
Two goals in three minutes from Tandberg and Julie Blakstad completed the rout as Spurs scored seven goals in the WSL for just the second time in their history.
The result means Martin Ho's side go level on points with rivals Arsenal, who have two games in hand, while Aston Villa drop down to ninth.

Tottenham keep Champions League hopes alive with commanding win
Afterlosing against Chelsea last weekend, Spurs got back to winning ways with a brilliant performance against a sloppy Villa side.
Spurs were on the front foot from the start and could have been ahead after four minutes when England was denied from close range as Roebuck came flying out to make the save.
Soon after, they did take the lead and despite a swift Villa equaliser, they established a two-goal cushion in seven minutes to reassert their dominance.
Villa's defensive flaws were exposed continually throughout the game, with Roebuck and the entire Villa defensive unit unable to cope with Spurs' high press.
Natalia Arroyo's side have now conceded 25 goals in their past six league games. At times it appeared the manager could not believe what she was seeing from the touchline.
Jean-Francois' goal came at a good time and reduced the deficit but Villa's leaky defence conceded less than a minute later after which Spurs ran away with the game.
While they are seven points clear of bottom-placed Leicester, four-consecutive defeats for Villa will give them plenty of cause for concern.
Hanson is Villa's top scorer in the WSL with nine but striker Rachel Daly is six goals behind her and given how open they are at the back, they will need a consistent goal scorer to stop them being dragged into relegation trouble.
