With triple Olympic gold under his belt, there aren't many more accolades swimmer Adam Peaty could dream of winning... apart from the Strictly Glitterball of course!

This champion recently wowed us all when he returned from the Tokyo 2021 Olympics with two gold medals, but his passion for the sport didn't start out so smooth - in fact, his family noted how scared he was of the water growing up! He soon had a change of heart and joined local swimming clubs, before taking it to the next level at the age of 14.

In his teenage years, Adam was scouted by former Olympic swimmer Melanie Marshall, who saw immense potential in his breaststroke technique. While he wasn't quite ready for the 2012 Olympics, he dedicated himself to the sport and began climbing the ranks at the National Youth Championships, Commonwealth Games, European Championships and World Championships in preparation for Rio 2016. Here he broke his own world-record time for the 100m event, bringing home the first gold medal by a male British swimmer in 24 years!

He saw even more success four years later at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, defending his title to bring home two more gold medals.

Now he's rounding off a year of glory by diving into Strictly, but has Adam got what it takes to snatch the coveted Glitterball trophy?

"I honestly don't know what’s about to hit me!" he said. "I've been kind of laissez-faire about the whole thing and kept it very simple in my head that’ll I'll just turn up to training and do a couple of dances!"
