The bigger question in present day is “why”. Why do people feel the need to play gossip games and pass around these stories? Is it because it gives hope when hope is in short supply? Or possibly because they misinterpreted the story. Both are possible, and both most likely happened. People interpret stories and events differently, and are selective in what they choose to believe. Even if people interpret the Arthurian legends differently, the main topics of hope, faith, and belief can all be understood. If Arthur was a real man, a large portion of the Arthurian legends would not have ever taken place, because it is
Many times stories get retold but often times get a different twist when they are retold. The story changes so much over time it isn’t the same as it started after 3 changes. Once a story is changed it can never be repeated the same due to individual bias. Most people do what they want with stories making them their own. Once a story is solidified to someone’s liking they keep it that way and it can last for a long time till the story is changed and retold to the point it could become a whole new story. Stories often time don’t stay the same for a long extended period of time. When a new story that people generally like comes out it will stay the same but in any other circumstance it is different and often times doesn’t say how it was first

Arthurian literature is one area of fiction that has always been popular for writers to recreate in new versions, and one of the most intriguing characters of all Arthurian literature is Merlin, the magician/ prophet who aids Arthur early in his reign. As the Arthurian saga develops, so does Merlin, changing from an aloof, druidical character into a more human, magical being, though always retaining some traces of his Welsh origins.

Whether or not King Arthur truly existed, his influence dramatically changed the English society and English Literature to its current form (Arthurian Legends Vol. 1).

Although King Arthur is one of the most well-known figures in the world, his true identity remains a mystery. Attempts to identify the historical Arthur have been unsuccessful, since he is largely a product of fiction. Most historians, though, agree that the real Arthur was probably a battle leader of the Britons against the Anglo-Saxons in the sixthth century. In literature, King Arthur's character is unique and ever changing, taking on a different face in every work. There is never a clearly definitive picture that identifies Arthur's character. It is therefore necessary to look at a few different sources to get better insight into the character of Arthur, the once and future king.
King Arthur, was he man of truth or myth? King Arthur was a real person, not just a fictional character. While many believe that King Arthur was a non-fictional character, others feel that he was a fictional character. This was because there is no written record of a King Arthur in any area where he was reportedly born or deceased. King Arthur was real because there many people recall King Arthur or who have known personal stories of him, his family, and the wars he so bravely participated in. There are many people who recall King Arthur or know someone he was based off of. King Arthur was not real because it was not recorded in history that there was ever a “King Arthur.”
