Thesis is a short statement that recaps the main point of a piece of writing. The thesis statement is developed in the text by use of examples and evidence. Every essay must have a statement which conveys the author’s fundamental idea. Authors express their main paper’s main idea within a couple of sentences, otherwise known as a thesis statement (Kennedy et al. 32). For example, if an author’s main idea in an essay was to persuade the readers to carpool, than his or her thesis statement must clearly formulate the primary idea to the readers. Thesis statements ease the process of writing an essay by connecting all of the writer’s ideas, while also allowing the reader to better recognize and appreciate the text (Kennedy et al. 33). For instance, if a student omits a thesis statement on an English paper his or her professor would likely be confused with the main purpose of the text, thus being unable
A thesis statement is a short, declarative sentence that states the purpose, intent, or main idea of a speech (“Stand Up, Speak Out” 303). In the Policy Speech Outline, my “thesis” stated: “Many of these moments are truly Oscar-worthy, but in recent years, the Oscars has had a lot of criticism, controversy, and even boycotts. But why?” Not only is this thesis statement unclear, but it doesn’t let my audience know what my specific purpose of my speech is. A thesis statement is supposed to organize main points, make my research more effective, and enhance my delivery (“Stand Up, Speak Out” 304); nonetheless, my “thesis” acts more of a transitioning statement from my attention grabber to the general explanation of the problem.
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee there are numerous topics/ideas such as racism, concepts of fair and justice, unbalanced equality ,etc. There are a few characters in the literature that embody moral uprightness and human kindness as Atticus Finch, attorney as well as father of the narrator Scout and Jem. Scouts sense of justice seems to factor physical imposition upon those who offend her. Her ability to back it up with her fists, something she laster resists because it disappoints Atticus. Being able to understand the concept of justice and be able to grapple with it, is very difficult for anyone let alone a child.
I could write an introduction and conclusion for my papers, but I always seemed to be missing a strong thesis statement to put it all together. A thesis statement should be the last part of your introduction that summaries all your points you are going to be talking about in the paper for the reader. On one of my papers my conclusions were “The FDA and young women should come together to increase the availability of contraceptives. By following through we are making a difference one step at a time.”. Never did I summaries my paper for a thesis statement, but after a lot of constructive criticism I learned how to make a proper thesis statement.
At first, it was difficult for me to a write a paper with a thesis statement because I did not know how to state my point of view. I would just write a paper without a thesis statement. However, in the ENF class, I learned how to write a thesis statement in my essays. I had learned that it cannot be a fact and it must always be a generalization demanding proof or further development. You should have a hook, to grab the reader, such as an unusual fact or a quotation.
Chapter three explains what a thesis is, gives examples, and informs where the thesis can be located in an essay. A thesis is summarized in one or two sentences as the main point, main idea or controlling idea stated in an essay. Some thesis statements are directly stated, implied or suggested. The writer needs to relate their thoughts about the essay to their thesis, because the thesis directs and controls the decisions made about the way you write your essay. As you get into more depth of your essay maybe consider adjusting the thesis statement to your new idea. The thesis statement should be general. A thesis statement is a claim that can be supported by evidence, but it is not a

An introductory paragraph in every essay allows for the writer to develop the setting, mood, and overarching theme of the essay. This paragraph plays an important role in the sequencing of events that follow and ties in a thesis statement in the last sentence of the paragraph. Furthermore, the role of a thesis statement is to fluently summarize the main ideas portrayed in the essay while stating the author’s ideologies about the topics at hand. A strong thesis statement not only presents what the essay topic but what evidence will be discussing in the upcoming paragraphs.
Before writing a thesis statement, you need to look at all the information that you need for your essay. Then, try to see a connection or relationship between all the paragraphs and information. This will help you determine what your thesis statement will say and what it'll be about.

I disagree with the drive theory. The drive theory states that behavior is motivated by drives that arise from biological needs that demand satisfaction. I think that behavior is motivated by things other than biological needs. For example, someone who has anorexia has a biological need that is not being met which is food. According to the drive theory they should have behavior that is motivated by meeting the biological need of hunger.
