5 titles to be highlighted as part of the Festival de Cannes’ Animation Day on May 18: ‘Julián,’ ‘Sunny,’ ‘Ana, en passant,’ ‘Dante,’ and ‘Mu Yi and the Handsome General.’

The initiative will provide opportunities for young talent, including direct engagement with the studio’s creative team and a platform to explore creative careers; support for animation talent continues through the Aardman Academy.

Running May 7-10, the event will feature more than 40 guests and keynote speakers participating in 14 masterclasses, 15 educational talks, five workshops, six premieres and screenings, three auteur presentations, five school stands, 20 talent booths, two exhibitions, and 18 hours dedicated to recruitment, portfolio reviews, and signings.

VFX supervisor Ledda and animation supervisor Blacker, both previously at MPC, join company’s London creative leadership team to assist in preparation of new projects.

A record-breaking 1,800 animated short films from 83 countries were submitted, with 218 chosen by the pre-selection committee; the festival returns to Žilina, Slovakia June 24-29.

The international competition for animated films and comics will be held in Šibenik, Croatia July 21-25; submissions are open until April 1, and entries selected for competition will be announced no later than May 1.

The European and Indonesian companies will partner on production of 26 five-minute episodes of the 2D animated preschool comedy series.

Out of a record 103 submissions, 50 works are chosen, including 28 TV series, 10 feature films, 4 TV specials, and 8 cross-media projects; conference runs May 6-8 in Stuttgart.

Four short films, one video game, and one feature film have been chosen from 14 projects; teasers created by the finalists to be shown during the event in Madrid on February 27-28.

The conference now offers two new ticket categories: the Business Pass and the Experience Pass; early bird options are also in place until March 20.

Highlights for the upcoming festival include screenings of ‘Memory Hotel’ ‘Vengeance Most Fowl,’ with a masterclass hosted by Aardman’s Will Becher; ITFS runs from May 6-11.

The event will take place April 1-2 at England’s Millennium Point Conference Centre; Patricia Hidalgo, Ronan McCabe, Philippe Alessandri, and Kate O’Connor will speak at the Day Two Keynote.

As a member of the trade association, the studio will have the opportunity to engage in shaping policy discussions, network with industry leaders, and access resources and training.

The 3DCG show aimed at audiences aged 4-7 follows the V Team, a group of five young veterinary apprentices as they embark on rescue missions to save and heal animals.

Victoria Chen joins the cast of the Royal Shakespeare Company show as Mei, while Ami Okumura Jones returns as Satsuki alongside Dai Tabuchi as Tatsuo, Jacqueline Tateas as Granny, and Ai Ninomiyaas as the Singer; coming to the Gillian Lynne Theatre March 8 - November 2.
