How to get to Old Trafford Stadium
The closest train station to Old Trafford isManchester Piccadilly, which is roughly 30 minutes away. The easiest way to get to the stadium from the station is on the blue Metro line to the Old Trafford stop, from which it’s just a short walk to the stadium.
There are free bicycle racks at Old Trafford if you want to cycle to the stadium. It’s also possible to drive, but bear in mind that the roads in the area get very busy on match days, so getting to Old Trafford is usually faster and less stressful when you take public transport.

Old Trafford was officially opened on 19th February 1910 with a football match between Manchester United and Liverpool, with MUFC losing by one goal. The stadium was originally called United Football Ground but was renamed Old Trafford in 1936. Old Trafford was suffered from extensive bomb damage during World War Two, during which time the club shared premises with their rivals Manchester City.
With a capacity of 74,140 seats, the “Theatre of Dreams” as it’s known, is the largest club football stadium in the UK - and the second-largest stadium overall, behind Wembley in London.
