Standard Premium onboard upgrade prices
Standard Premium upgrades start from around £20 one way, depending how far you’re travelling. That’s on top of the price of your Standard ticket. Take a look at the table below for the upgrade prices on our most popular routes.

Where can I travel in Standard Premium?
Standard Premium is offered on the majority of Avanti West Coast services and is subject to availability.
How to upgrade to Standard Premium?
There are two ways to upgrade your Standard Class ticket. You can do this either online before you travel or when you are onboard the train.
Upgrade online
To guarantee your Standard Premium upgrade and to ensure a seat reservation we advise you to book online before you travel. You can do this via theAvanti West Coast app or through our website. Log in to your account and select select the upcoming journey that you would like to upgrade. Then simply follow the instructions to upgrade.
Upgrade onboard
If you’ve booked a Standard Class ticket but fancy a bit of luxury at the last minute, you can move up to Standard Premium there and then. Just head to the Standard Premium coach when you get on and the Train Manager will upgrade your ticket.
Three ways to travel
Travelling in Standard Premium gives you upgraded seats with extra leg room.
On top of this you’ll also be guaranteed a table for working on the go (or colouring in with the kids).

Standard Premium Ts and Cs
- Standard Premium tickets are available as an additional fixed price paid upgrade on Standard Class tickets for the following routes; London to Milton Keynes (£18), London to Birmingham (£24), London to Manchester/Liverpool/Preston (£37.50), London to Glasgow/Edinburgh (£44). Exclusions and limitations apply.
- Standard Premium is available to book in advance via all bookable channels, including the Avanti West Coast website or app, or on the train via the Train Manager, with a valid Standard Class ticket, as well as all licensed Third Party Retailers.
- Standard Premium tickets are subject to availability and are available on the majority of Avanti West Coast services.

Standard Premium FAQs
Standard Premium is a type of ticket that’s exclusive to Avanti West Coast. It is an upgrade from a Standard ticket to give comfier seats, extra legroom, a guaranteed table and window socket. Standard Premium is subject to availability, booking (or upgrading) in advance is recommended.
Standard Premium upgrades are on top of the price of your Standard Class ticket. The upgrades range from £24 to £44 one way, depending on your journey length. You'll be offered an upgrade cost on the Avanti West Coast website or app, otherwise the Train Manager will be able to give you an accurate upgrade price on the day.
It's easy. You can buy a Standard Premium ticket for selected routes and dates when booking through our website and app.

Alternatively, you can upgrade your ticket to Standard Premium whilst you're on the train – subject to availability. Just speak with your Train Manager and request to purchase an upgrade to Standard Premium.

Standard Premium seats are located in the carriage(s) between First Class and Standard Class. Whether that’s at the front or the back will depend on which way the train is facing, but our staff will be happy to help. Check out theseating plan for more information.
