The sixth-seeded pair defeatedAustin Krajicek andRajeev Ram 6-3, 7-6(6) to earn their third consecutive straight-sets win at the 2025 edition of the hard-court major in Melbourne. Competing against a pair of former No. 1s in the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings, Heliovaara and Patten held firm for an 81-minute triumph to reach the quarter-finals on theirAustralian Open team debut.
TheWimbledon champions Heliovaara and Patten delivered a stellar serving performance inside 1573 Arena, where they dropped just seven points on their delivery in the match, according to Infosys Stats. The Finnish-British duo will take onHugo Nys andEdouard Roger-Vasselin in the quarter-finals, after the 15th seeds defeatedTomas Machac andZhang Zhizhen 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Kevin Krawietz andTim Puetz also advanced to the last eight on Tuesday, although the 2024Nitto ATP Finals titlists had to rally to oustSander Gille andJan Zielinski 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4. Krawietz and Puetz are chasing their maiden major title as a team at Melbourne Park, where their next opponents will be British duoJulian Cash andLloyd Glasspool.
Cash and Glasspool saved a match point at 8/9 in the deciding-set tie-break of their third-round outing, in which they ultimately defeatedAriel Behar andRobert Galloway 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(11-9).
