The new combat vehicle can transport a maximum payload of more than 1,400kg or up to nine infantrymen in support of expeditionary missions. It offers high mobility and higher speeds over rough terrains.

Polaris developed the DAGOR vehicle under a contract from elements of the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and international Special Operations Forces (SOF) customers.

The combat vehicle completed and passed the government durability trails and is certified for air drop and internal air transport by CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter, and sling load underUH-60 Black Hawk utility helicopters.

The Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) programme has been initiated as part of the US Army’s modernisation efforts to deliver its armed forces with a next-generation infantry fighting vehicle.

The ultra-light vehicle is currently under production. It was launched at the 2014 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) annual meeting and exposition held in Washington DC in October 2014.

DAGOR is larger than Polaris’ other combat vehicle line up includingMRZR 4 and MRZR 2 ultra-light tactical vehicles, RZR SW tactical vehicle, Sportsman MV 850 and Sportsman MV 850 LE light all-terrain vehicles, and Tactical Trailer.

DAGOR design, features and accommodation

The DAGOR combat vehicle features rugged modular design incorporating military commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and driveline system. The vehicle is easy to operate and maintain. It has a length of 4.52m, width of 1.88m and a height of 1.84m. The gross vehicle weight is 3,515kg and the base vehicle weight is 2,041kg. The vehicle can carry a payload of up to 1,474kg.

DAGOR is attached with a large cargo bed at the rear to provide increased loading space and flexibility. The open architecture of the cargo box provides access to mission essential equipment.

The open design cab configuration of the vehicle accommodates up to nine troops including a roof gunner. Four personnel are seated in the cabin, while five occupants are seated on additional seats at the rear. The gunner is accommodated in a sling seat attached to the roof of the vehicle.

“The vehicle is equipped with an electronic power steering in the front section on the left side.”

Armament aboard DAGOR

The DAGOR ultra-light combat vehicle can be configured to carry up to 48 weapons in weapons ring. It can also be fitted with multiple pintle mounts to hold machine guns.

Engine and mobility

The DAGOR combat vehicle is powered by a light weight, commercial off-the-shelf turbo diesel / JP8 engine located at the front section. The driveline system generates abundant power to provide superior off-road mobility in all terrain conditions. DAGOR is also installed with C4I auxiliary power terminal and trophy truck-inspired suspension.

The vehicle is equipped with an electronic power steering in the front section on the left side. It also incorporates intuitive control systems and common off-road driving techniques. The vehicle can be fitted with additional equipment and accessories based on customers’ needs. The power-pack will allow the vehicle to reach high speeds and ensures an efficient range of 805km with maximum gross vehicle weight, based on the mission needs.

The vehicle is sling loadable by CH-47 Chinook, CH-53 heavy-lift, and UH-60 Black Hawk utility helicopters. Up to two DAGORs can be carried internally by a CH-47 helicopter. The vehicle supports low velocity air drop (LVAD) method.
