If members have questions regarding this process, ElectionBuddy support can be reached at ans@electionbuddy.com.
Every year, the ANS election is an opportunity for members to have a direct voice in ANS’s future. Elected leaders will be responsible for furthering the Society’s mission of advancing nuclear science and technology by setting its strategic direction for the following year. They will also be responsible for representing the interests of ANS and its members and for ensuring that the Society remains at the forefront of nuclear innovation and discovery.
The candidate elected to serve as vice president/president-elect will succeed current vice president/president-elect Mark Peters as president in 2027. Peters will succeed current ANS president Hash Hashemian in June 2026. Below are the candidates for vice president/president-elect.
- Rebecca Steinman, an ANS member since 1993. Steinman is the senior manager of licensing at Constellation. She is also the chair of the Society’s Certification and Workforce Development Committee and served on the ANS Board of Directors from 2018 to 2021.
- Dan Stout, an ANS member since 2009. Stout is the founder and managing director of Advanced Nuclear Advisors, a project development firm. From 2022 to 2024, he served as the chief nuclear officer at Ultra Safe Nuclear. He served on the ANS Board of Directors from 2022 to 2025.
The eight candidates for the five U.S. director positions are Sven Bader, Lane Carasik, Harsh Desai, Kirsten Laurin-Kovitz, Leah Parks, Sandra Sloan, Andrew Sowder, and Paul Wilson. The two candidates for the single non-U.S. director positions are Deborah Hill and Catherine Prat.
Members are strongly encouraged to vote to help ensure that ANS continues to play a leading role in promoting the benefits of nuclear science. Brief biographies of each candidate can be readhere.
