Socialist Republic of Viet Nam: Renewed concern for the Montagnard minority
On 10 and 11 April 2004 thousands of ethnic minority people known as Montagnards engaged in protests against government policies in three provinces of the Central Highlands region of Viet Nam. Amnesty International believes that the Vietnamese authorities used disproportionate and brutal force to break up the recent demonstrations.
