About the author

In 1994 founded the Constitution Society to defend abuses of the Constitution, launched its website, http://constitution.org in 1995. Edited the online editions of most of the major works in constitutional history, law, and government. Known as a leading expert in constitutional law.

Born in San Francisco in 1944. Moved with mother to Seguin, Texas, in 1949. Graduated from Seguin High School, top male student, in 1962. Graduated from University of Chicago in 1967, BS in mathematics, minors in physics and philosophy. Served as officer in USAF. Moved to Washington, DC, to work as free lance public interest lobbyist, 1970-73. In 1972 and 1974 ran for U.S. representative in 23rd congressional district Democratic Primary, with no Republican opponents. Investor in real estate. Opened first computer store in San Antonio in 1975. Sold that out and turned to full-time computer programming, first in San Antonio, then moving from place to place across the country. Has tried cases in court pro se. Independent historian. His first novel, Wayward World, reflects that background. Presently retired. Ran for Texas Attorney General as a Libertarian in 2002, 2006, and 2010.
