5.0 out of 5 starsFINALLY! SOME REAL MUSIC!..IT'S A FEAST TO THE EARS! THANK YOU, SWV! THANK YOU!...
I'm not going to bore anyone with some big long-winded review about the state of music right now....
I'll skip to the main reason that I'm writing...SWV!
Being a huge fan of their other amazing albums, I bought this album, I MISSED US, with like no expectations whatsoever. Needless to say, I was blown away, once again, by these incredibly talented ladies. Yep, SWV has still got it!...Not only do they still sing like angels but there is a great deal of more maturity in their voices and in their song choices this time around. ...And you hear it in every note and in every melody. It especially becomes crystal clear when you hear my favorite tracks off this album like the songs:EVERY THING THAT I LOVE, DO YA, THE BEST YEARS, I MISSED US, and USE ME
SWV is singing about things a lot of us have already gone through, and are going through right now, and will eventually have to go through again and again: love, relationships, loss, divorce, pain, heartache, recovery, hope, faith, joy, life, and finding love again but on a real-er level and not letting the bad choices that we've made in the past keep robbing us of the happiness that we so desperately need today....
I listened to this, I MISSED US album, with a few tears, a little sadness, with great joy, and with soulful dancing in my heart, and with a lot of optimistic smiles for the future.
It has often been said of true musical artists that if "in just one album that they can take you through a roller-coaster ride of emotions and make you cry and make you laugh and make you dance and make you cry again, and after all of that, you still keep listening to it over and over again?...Then, son, you'd better make some room in your record collection for this one!" - Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2012Coko, Lee Lee and Taj collectively known as SWV(Sisters With Voices)are BACK and I mean back in a BIG way. The trio had three successfully platinum and multi-platinum CD's then ego's come into place and eventually they went their separate ways. Listen to the new "I Missed Us" disc, it's like no has passed. Their vocal harmonies are just as crisp, sharp and flowing like they always were.
Upon first listen, their CD is an instant classic, it captures are they things that made them the successful trio that they were known for, their vocalized stylings were the template for singing groups of their generation. This time around they are seasoned and you can hear the maturity that life lessons have taught them. The songs are very contemporary and catchy, easily able to compete in the current day's market place. When they exited the industry along with groups like En Vogue, a void was left, unfortunately in their 15 year absence, no other female singing group has captured their place, which makes the title of their CD all the more appropriate, we missed them and they missed singing together.
The CD is filled with full fledged SINGING, and loaded with noteworthy singles, like their current hit "Co-Sign", which will remind you of their classic "Right Here". Other soon to be classics are "All About You", "Show Off", "Do Ya", "Love Unconditionally" and the exquisite remake of Patti Labelle's classic "If Only You Knew" will help carry you through 2012. The SISTERS are back, and whenever true talent is in the arena, it's always welcomed, so welcome back ladies, your legacy in musical history continues. - Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2012After my first listen I already knew I would love this album. The ladies really took care to give their fans a taste of the SWV we missed. The sound is very 90's R&B/ Hip Hop Soul/ New Jack Swing and it sounds great for 2012. Hard to describe it but it just beats anything I'm hearing from the current R & B landscape. They kept it easy to listen to without confirming to the two beat auto tune thing that is so popular these days. I'm in my mid 30's and was already a fan but my 15 y/o and 5 y/o daughters sing out Co-sign as loud as I do while we ride around.
Coco is a phenomenal vocalist, Leelee definitely came through and Taj sang from her heart. I am happy they gave it another shot and they solidified a comeback with this album. If they stopped making music after this they proved that they still make great music together. I gave five stars because this album exceeded anything I expected. Co-sign was a good first single and this album has plenty more to offer. "Do Ya'" and "Better Than I" are standing out to me now and I'm sure a few listens down the line will bring more fav's. - Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2012Been a fan of SWV from day 1 and always hoped they would release another cd after "Release Some Tension". Well here it is "I Missed Us". From the catchy, dance induced "Co-Sign" to the Patti Labelle cover "If Only You Knew".
SWV shows what it means to bring the real on a cd without comprising or taking short cuts in the vocal production and writing. It's a breathe of fresh air to see my favorite female group back like they never left. I love everything about their new cd. Just about any song on here could be a 2nd/3rd & 4th single.
Some of my favs:
"Co-Sign"
"I Missed Us"
"Use Me"
"The Best Years"
"Do Ya"
Again i'm beyond glad that when i saw a new cd by SWV. I didn't even think twice because I knew what I was getting. A well done, balance and all around excellent album of any genre period. Lead vocals by Coko, Lelee and Taj :).
You all are doing your thing on this record. Here's to much success with the new album and I hope it's just a prelude of more albums to come.
SWV in the house!!

5.0 out of 5 starsSWV
I'm So Into You"を思わせる"Co-Sign"はじめ、良い意味で何も変わっていない90年代R&Bテイストが満載。
制作陣がSWVの魅力を分かっていて、最大限にそれを引き出している。
他のレビューに「声が太くなった」と書かれているが、ハスキーでビブラートかかったリリーのソロパートが大幅に増えたからだろう。
"Everything I Love"は何度聴いても高揚する。
元々ヴォーカルの核だったCokoの歌唱力にはますます磨きがかかっている。
ありふれた曲調のバラードも高らかに歌い上げ、本人が気持よく歌っているのが分かる。
初期の"Right Here (Human Nature Mix)"が知られているが、このアルバムはSWVの良さが凝縮された最高傑作だと個人的には思っている。
