FINALLY!!! Season 4. It was a great season!
Season 4 was such a great season! It was still in "the Bub years," and Sally and Ernie enter the story. Others have commented on editing, the price, and the fact that these releases aren't remastered. I agree that they could have done better, BUT DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU FROM ENJOYING THESE AWESOME EPISODES! After watching "Almost the Sound of Music," you'll be singing, "When all the world is sad and blue, And out the window hope just flew …" (Hope just flew? Aw, come on, Rob!) This volume has the Douglas trip to Shian Bridge, Scotland, which is the first appearance of Laird Fergus Douglas, even though his first name is never mentioned in the episode and another character is called Fergus. And you don't want to miss all the wild laughter over "Bub's Toupee." And "The Proposals" is the only episode that show, via flashback, Steve's wife and Bub's wife. That was really cool to see what they were like. If you're a big-time fan of this series, this volume is a must-buy! If you're not a big-time fan, get these DVD's and you might become one. 'My Three Sons' was such a great show. Thanks, CBS! Keep 'em coming and try to bring the price down a tad.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020love this TV show and this is the best you can do if you want the series. the black and white is good and sound is good. this show still displays good family values and people being nice to one another, something lost in our society today. no cell phone no internet just a simple time in the 1960's. i recommend getting all the first 5 seasons as they are the best! bub is great and uncle Charlie is just ok. seasons 1-5 are only in black and white. season 6 and beyond is in color and Ernie and Charlie are now in the family and Mike leaves and in my opinion the series goes down from this point. wish they made shows like this today the world might be just a little bit better. Fred MacMurray is great as the dad and shows how good they and bub got along without a wife in bringing up the three sons.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2019I am glad to see CBS releasing further seasons of "My Three Sons". It's been a long time coming. This is a sitcom about an American family during the sixties and their adventures from childhood to young adults. It's a warm hearted gentle series that I think to everyone's surprise, who starred in it, lasted so long. 12 years!
Fred MacMurray is perfectly cast as the Dad as is William Frawley as the crotchety old grandfather with a heart of gold.
I believe this might have been his last season as he passed away not long after and was replaced by William Demarest as their uncle.
Made in black and white. the show would eventually be shot in colour in the following years to come.
Watching this series for the first time as I was not even born when it first started and enjoying every minute of it. - Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2022This season is much better for my family. The seasons where the children were always rough housing and chaotic family life stressed me. This season things start to calm down and is much better written to me. It's more like I remembered seeing when I was growing up.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2019This review is for Volumes 1 and 2 since I purchased both together. These two sets are the same as the Season 3 releases. No remastering has been done on the episodes themselves, but the score has not been altered like it was on the first two seasons that were released in 2008-2010. Those were pressed discs but these are the purple burned discs. They do have a nice silk screened logo on each disc that lists the episode titles. There is no insert with titles/airdates though.
The back covers feature the same colorized cast photo, although it not a Season 4 publicity pic, it’s from the first season. The bad news is that once again there are cut episodes. Most of the episodes on Volume 1 run between 25:30-25:40. On Volume 2, the episodes all start having shorter running times that range from around 24:00-24:50. I can’t tell if they are edited, so I assume maybe mid-season they began to make the episodes shorter. I did compare with The Patty Duke Show Season 1, which aired on ABC the same year as this, but the Patty episodes were all around 25:30, so it makes me wonder. They may be time compressed, but I didn't notice any jerky motion or high-pitched voices which are detectable when shows are time-sped. The following is a list of run times on the confirmed edited ones:
DEAR ROBBIE 22:34
SECOND CHORUS 23:45
MY FRIEND ERNIE 22:38
THE END OF YOU-KNOW-WHAT 22:26
THE TOUPEE 22:29
I liked this Season better than the first three. The addition of Ernie (Barry Livingston) and Sally (Meredith MacRae) made the show more enjoyable for me. But, this is still pricey for edited episodes that are not remastered. Casual fans may want to pass on this and just watch on Me-TV, etc. rather than springing for this set. Season 5 is my favorite of the B&W years. I do hope if it’s released, there are no edits, but I am not holding my breath.3.0 out of 5 starsThis review is for Volumes 1 and 2 since I purchased both together. I didn’t like that I was billed an extra 32.00 at front door or the driver wouldn’t release the DVDs that I already ordered and were very expensive 53.90 and 32.00 added. Very disappointed and won’t order anything from moviemars Canada.
