How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2017Piero Scaruffi has written a very complete review of books and other writings on the brain, thought and consciousness. He touches on most major writings on this subject, but does not go into great detail in most references.
This is an excellent book that collects references and briefly discusses research and major topics, but does not seem to go very far into each subject or reference. - Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2006Format: PaperbackThank you for all the readers who took the time to post a review (critics always welcome!)
I just wanted to say that the book is now out of print. A new edition is coming out, titled "The Nature of Consciousness", that includes 95% of the text of "Thinking About Thought" plus new texts written since 2003. And hopefully corrects all the typos that were in the first edition.
Unfortunately, an alphabetical index is beyond my cognitive closure
(read the book to find out what a "cognitive closure" is :-) )

Thank you, piero scaruffi - Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2006Format: PaperbackFinally. I've been looking for this kind of broad survey of cognitive science since i took my first AI class. This has it all: Chomsky, Damasio, Edelman, you name it. Even physicists like Penrose and philosophers like Searle. Basically 600 books
packed in 600 pages.
Not as easy to read as the author advertises it, but, again, a lot
easier to read than 600 books... - Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2005Format: PaperbackI found this book disappointing. It has no index, is loaded with typos and other errors, and the layout of the references at the end of each chapter is like a high school term paper. At a higher level, the book does marginally better. I understand that the author intends only to give an overview but the book is so disjointed and the coverage so shallow that it is difficult to gain much of real value. The author's approach seems to be to briefly state (and sometimes misstate) the views of theorists without getting into enough detail to allow a reasonable evaluation. Perhaps the book's greatest merit is that its Further Reading lists point to many truly great works.
