- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2021First to note: This Blu-Ray DOES include a bonus disc containing the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover in its entirety. Admittedly, without knowledge of DC lore or the other CW shows this crossover will seem very "all over the place" for you. That said, for those of us invested in DC's history and characters this five-hour event is an absolute treat jam-packed with cameos and homages and is co-written by the man himself, Marv Wolfman.
As for the show: It's a fun romp through different time periods with entertaining character interactions, and although this season isn't as strong as previous, sending off some well-loved characters and introducing others who aren't well received, there are shining moments that remind you this show has heart. However, if you're watching this show because you want lots of drama and intensity, you're looking in the wrong place. I'd recommend Titans and Black Lightning for that. Legends is a comedy at heart that focuses on how its characters interact with their environment, and allows itself to poke fun at the superhero genre it fits in.
As for the Amazon packaging: My product was shipped and sold by Amazon.com Services, not a third party. I had three Blu-Rays in my shipment. They threw all three in a standard bubble mailer with no added shipping material, resulting damaged corners on all three boxes and loose discs inside the cases free to get scratched by the plastics inside. As convenient as Prime shipping is, I'll be looking elsewhere first for Blu-Ray/DVD purchases in the future. - Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020This is another great Big Ray release from WB of The CW show!! A three disc set containing all fifteen episodes of season five of tv show 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow.'
The show has a fair bit of backstory by this point. It's about a team of time travelling misfits who protect the continuum. The second episode might actually work as a jumping on point. But I think you're still better off starting with season one to get the most from it. Stick with it as well, because the show doesn't click till it's third year. Then it gets great.
First episode of the final part of the Dc Tv show crossover story 'Crisis on Infinite Earths.' For which you will need to have seen all the other dc tv shows respective seasons from this time, for their episodes of that.
Anyway, after that the season really gets going. They find the worst people in history have been released from hell. These beings are christened encores. It's all John Constantine's fault...
The battle against the encores though does lead to a bigger threat...
All episodes run forty two mins [approx]. This is a fifteen certificate thanks to violence and occasional mild language.
This season is amazingly good. If you are into the tone of the show. Which is very much saying to the viewer yes it's absurd at times but just go with it. Because if you can get with that, it's a lot of fun. There are character arcs for the crew. Very funny moments. Yet it can also switch to genuine emotion at times at the drop of a hat. And every episode is really inventive, trying something new each time. Also wholly original.
Particularly episode fourteen 'the one where we're trapped on tv' which is one of the most inventive bits of tv I've ever seen.
The season does end on a cliffhanger, which sets up season six.
The most entertaining season of this show yet. A huge fun ride.

Extras:
All but episodes one and twelve have unaired scenes. These can be accessed via the extras menu on disc three. Although that does mean watching the whole lot for the entire season in row. Or if you go to the episode menu, you will find the icon of an arrow by each episode that has them. Click on that for the individual episode ones. They mostly have one or two. But some have more. Even six or seven. All do have the occasional bit of unfinished visual effects. They're all worth watching though. It's more Legends scenes, after all.
There's also on disc three:
Gag reel: eight mins of out takes and hi jinks. Normally I'm never as keen on the latter as the former. But the whole reel has just a fun tone to it that anything in it is great watching.
Post Production Theater: four minutes showing some unsung heroes of the production team at work. Worth a look.
More fun theater: eleven minutes of extra scenes. All with a humorous slant. Most come from one particular episode and the humour in these is utterly brilliant. So deadpan with it, which makes it great. I highly recommend this extra. Watch it. You'll see why.
