Stunned by amazing storage pack! Not watched yet but will update review once I have. I've not come across a boxed set package like this before. Brilliant - looks good, VERY easy to access each disc and keep in sequence - VERY practical and presentable. Opens like a book! Also very sturdy and clean and each disc nicely protected. NO fiddling about or frustrations getting discs out or putting them back. As to the discs, each is clearly labelled making it a Godsend to watch and keep everything in order. Each series uses a different livery, again making each set instantly recognisable from the others. Elegant, simple, minimalist and very practical. Very pleased to find this series available as I recorded it on VHS at the time to watch at leisure; but the DVD option is brilliant especially as I couldn't afford it at the time.

    Torchwood is brilliant and a real must watch if you are a doctor who fan! It starts off with jack lost after the doctor abandoned him back in series 1 of Doctor. He then travels back in time via his vortex manipulator but it burns out, he is eventually hired by torchwood, gets paid finds a purpose in life again. He already finds out his immortal but is left wondering why which is explained when he finds the doctor again. There's too much to talk about but it leads into doctor who well and the continuity is kept in check till the final as of this writing, American series 4 where it all goes a bit weird.

    Torchwood series 1-2 are about the team in the 21st century where everything changes and you've gotta be ready. It deals heavily with alien of the week invasions and jacks past, future and present.

    Series 3 is s brilliant mini series about an alien invasion and a world without the doctor. Jack has to kinda step in the doctors shoes and save the earth by any means necessary. It gets pretty dark pretty fast but doesn't suffer from being dragged out like series 4 does. It's 5 days of hell for the team and the prof of earth. Children are being abducted by the uk government to send to the 456 as payment for past dealings relating to captain jack harkness. In order for the UK government to keep their dealings secret, they went after the commander officers back then including jack but as we all know, he doesn't die. Gwen questions the doctors absence after briefly talking with him and everything seems lost till jack sacrifices one of his own family which leads him into disownment from his daughter. Jack then leaves the earth, leaving the only surviving torchwood member alive, gwen. A lot of people say this is where the series should of ended. I don't necessary agree but everyone has their own views.

    Series 4 goes a bit south. The CIA is involved, Jack returns to Earth and gwen comes out of hiding after a couple of years. It's a transatlantic serial where everyone on earth apart from animals, insects etc is immortal. It's too focused on America and not enough Cardiff/UK. Torchwood is extradited after the 456 incident by CIA Rex Matheson who takes great pleasure in bagging the infamous torchwood members. The story goes on with too much filler, action scenes which would make Michael bay proud and the source of the event which turns out to be a rock like open gap rubbing through the centre of the earths through Shanghai to Buenos Aires which is being strained by keeping everyone alive. It's eventually destroyed by jacks mortal blood even though he was a fixed point in time? Through Rex getting transfused it and Jack and him pulling their blood through the hole, destroying the family's plan of world domination. They later attend the funeral of Esther who was killed by the cousin, one of the family members who Rex threw to his death for killing Esther Drummond. They are coming out, a CIA mole is discovered after software is uploaded from the destroyed CIA building and Rex is shot dead, everyone thinks he's dead till he resurrects in the same fashion as Jack does everytime he dies. The famous What? Line from doctor who is muttered and Jack, gwen and Rhys are left looking shocked. This end scene hints to a cliffhanger and Plan B which is the family's second plan should the miracle day event get reversed. Russell never continued it due to his husbands health and it's been off the air since 2011.

    Torchwood still survives through the cast, crew and audio plays that are regularly released. I have hopes for its return soon and it would be 2018 that would be a great year for its release mainly because Chris Chibnall is taking over Doctor Who from Steven Moffat as he wrote for torchwood and I assume would rally for its return too. Series 5 will come, the show is not cancelled just in limbo waiting for the right time to return. Series 4 had no continuity to doctor who since Moffat took over from Russell t Davies and so plot holes were left to seep through as all three shows share the same universe. Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures which was cancelled due to Elizabeth Sladens death. Amy and Rory, the eleventh doctors companions at the time of 2011, were on earth mutiple times through the events of miracle day and no mention to the events are made in screen which is a shame.

    I've always loved Doctor Who but as it is aimed at the under 15 demographic, there are certain restrictions. This is where Torchwood comes in. This show has less restrictions and is more graphic which I believe is better. It's got Guns, Sex and Aliens. The first two seasons brilliant. These seasons contain the team of five made up of Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato. These episodes are the monster of the week storyline and they really are gripping. Then we get to Series 3 or Children of Earth. This 5 part miniseries is the best series of the bunch. The episodes are action packed and follow on from each other. It doesn't get much better than Children of Earth. Series 4 or Miracle Day, was a good attempt at best. Trying to juggle the show between the US and Cardiff, didn't work out so well. The story was good but would've benefitted from being 5 episodes like COE instead on 10 episodes. Apart from MD, the show is brilliant and this is worth the buy. Don't believe me, watch Doctor Who when it is on TV and look whats missing from it: the violence, guns, sex and then watch Torchwood and you will see its just Doctor Who but better.

    I have had problems with this product. The show itself is great and reaches its pinnacle with the excellent third series, Children of Earth, but unfortunately this is the series that would not play correctly. The menu and BBC intro videos played fine but the show itself was juddering throughout as though frames were missing. Amazon promptly sent a replacement, even though I had bought this 8 months ago (box sets tend to take time to watch through), and, again, the same problem occurred. Amazon were very reasonable and offered a refund and return labels for both sets.
    The blu ray discs are all 1080i picture, which isn't ideal as 1080p gives better quality and is more popular. However, I have never had a problem with BBC blu ray before and series 1, 2 and 4 of this set all seem to play perfect with great picture and sound quality. I did try to reconfigure the settings of my Panasonic blu ray and TV setup to little avail. I also tested the discs on my other setup of Sony player with Philips TV, which proved marginally better, still a lot of judder with muddier image, but was much older tech.
    It's a shame that I am now left without this box set because it is a great show. I guess I may have to consider a drop in picture quality and get the DVD version, which will probably play fine, but as it is almost the same price as the blu ray version I will have to wait for a price drop to justify the quality difference.
    If series 3 had worked correctly then I would have given 5 stars. Full marks to Amazon for their always perfect service. Thank you.

    I'd read that other people had issues getting Miracle Day to actually play, but the set was on sale. Plus, I'd already watched series 1-3 on Netflix while house sitting for my sister and was too emotionally scarred from Children of Earth to move on to the next series just yet anyways. So I figured if it didn't work, it would just prove that I needed more time than usual to heal.

    Well, several weeks later I've finally decided to try the last set out, and everything works just fine. And at the risk of sounding like I'm not still totally devastated by CoE (which, just for the record, I most definitely am) I even actually enjoyed it. I hadn't had high hopes, having read both the synopsis for the series and the words of an angry wholigan on the comments of a random Facebook page, but it was pretty good. It's different. I won't say I don't prefer the previous three series. But I think the being different bit was half the fun of it.

    So yeah, I guess that's it. Fun show. Dvds worked. Hours of entertainment. *thumbs up*

    -Prima stagione: E' la più "tradizionale", con episodi abbastanza indipendenti (tranne gli ultimi due) e varietà nei temi trattati.
    -Seconda stagione: Gli episodi sono maggiormente collegati tra di loro ed è emotivamente più coinvolgente con un finale in crescendo.
    -Children of earth : Inizialmente ci si trova un po' spiazzati dal ritmo meno incalzante di una vicenda che si svolge nell'arco di cinque episodi, ma in seguito diviene davvero incredibile e gli ultimi due episodi sono indimenticabili.
    -Miracle day: Forse quella che ho apprezzato di meno, ma vi sono alcune situazioni irresistibilmente comiche e una tensione costante che comunque non deludono.
    Acquisto che ho davvero apprezzato anche grazie a una grande quantità di contenuti speciali a ai sottotitoli in inglese ben leggibili.

    日本では、いよいよ７月１３日からＷＯＷＯＷで第４シーズンの「Miracle Day」が「トーチウッド　人類不滅の日」のタイトルで放送が始まります。
    そこでシーズン１〜３を予習として見るために購入しました。ついでに放送される予定の第４シーズン（「Miracle Day」）も一足早く見ることができ
    ました。

    「トーチウッド」は「ドクター・フー」のスピンオフ作品です。「ドクター・フー」との大きな違いは、「ドクター・フー」はドクターが主に事件を
    解決しますが、こちらはキャプテン・ジャック・ハークネスという不死身の特殊な主人公こそいますがイギリス王室直属のチーム（「トーチウッド」）
    のメンバーが活躍する群像劇になっていることです。
