Dr. Sheldon Cooper(Jim Parsons) is smarter than you – and he’s not afraid to say so. Dr. Leonard Hofstadter
Dr. Leonard Hofstadter(Johnny Galecki) has an IQ of 173 and PhD. in Experimental Physics. When he’s not doing research at the University, Leonard lives in a Pasadena apartment with colleague and friend Sheldon Cooper. Together, they proudly share a love of superheroes, video games and all things “geeky”. Leonard is also very earnest in developing his relationship with on-again, off-again, but now definitely on-again girlfriend Penny, who lives across the hall. Leonard's family is composed of many accomplished academics including his mother, Dr. Beverly Hofstadter, and his brother and sister.Superpowers: Solving differential equations, playing the cello.Weaknesses:Eyesight, lactose intolerance.
Penny
Penny(Kaley Cuoco), is the typical “girl next door” – if the girl next door happens to be beautiful (and technically lives across the hall). Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, she is an aspiring actress, who once moonlighted as a waitress. Outgoing and self-assured, Penny’s personality often contrasts with those of the guys. Although it’s not like they haven’t rubbed off on her, as she once developed an obsession with online fantasy games. Despite the fact that she and Sheldon don’t always see eye to eye, she has proved to be a good friend. Something of a leader to her friends Amy and Bernadette, Penny has become more serious in her relationship with Leonard and her acting career (with a star turn in the cult sci-fi sequelSerial Ape-ist 2.)Superpowers:Kindness, assertiveness, shopping.Weaknesses: Limited sci-fi knowledge, shopping.
Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler
Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler(Mayim Bialik) – is a neurobiologist who first popped up as a possible match for Sheldon through an Internet dating site (that Howard and Raj signed him up for without his knowledge!) Amy, like Sheldon, is a genius who has previously avoided relationships. In fact, she only met Sheldon because she was fulfilling her promise to her mother to go on at least one date a year. Things have changed for Amy, however, as she is now living the life she always dreamed of as a pubescent teen. Penny and Bernadette are her best friends and she has succeeded in making Sheldon Cooper her boyfriend. (Relationship agreement penned by him, of course. Dr. Bernadette(Melissa Rauch) – is a pint-sized scientist who, aptly, has a PhD. in Microbiology. Bernadette is not a huge fan of children. This stems from her forced employment at the illegal daycare center that her mother ran out of their home’s basement. She and Howard met on a blind date through Penny and instantly bonded through their mommy issues.Superpowers: Safely handling the world’s most deadly viruses, Mrs. Wolowitz impressions (it’s uncanny!)Weaknesses: Scarily competitive. Howard Wolowitz
Howard Wolowitz(Simon Helberg) is an engineer in applied physics. He recently retired his ‘ladies man’ aspirations and married girlfriend Bernadette Rostenkowski, who he initially bonded with over disdain for their overbearing mothers. Even though he’s constantly picked on by Sheldon for lacking a PhD., Howard achieved the prestigious accomplishment of going to space with NASA (and will never let his friends forget it). He also has a gift for celebrity impressions, and a horrible nut allergy.Superpowers: Expansive belt buckle collection.Weaknesses:Dominated by his mother and now his wife.
Dr. Rajesh "Raj" Koothrappali
Dr. Rajesh "Raj" Koothrappali(Kunal Nayyar) is a sensitive soul; the kind of guy who’s not afraid to kick back with a glass of wine and a good “chick flick”. But make no mistake, he’s all man. Recently, Raj overcame a lifelong inability to speak in the presence of women. Now, he must learnwhatto actually say to a woman that won’t send them running. Originally from New Delhi, India, Raj works in the Physics department, where he specializes in particle astrophysics. If you go back and watch the original season, you see the premise in its essentials, revolving around how Leonard and Sheldon's lives were given the push they sorely needed when Penny arrived as their new neighbour,
The show became more of a hit, as each season added to the recurring cast of acquaintances, who were then promoted to the main ensemble. The Big Bang Theory was a runaway success for twelve hilarious seasons, The twelfth and final Season consists of 24 episodes, and sees all characters' story arcs neatly tied up in ways that doesn't feel forced. - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2024I love Big Bang theory and the last series was brilliant

All twenty four episodes are spread across three discs. A step up from the two of season eleven. With more extras than that had as well. Technically the season finale was a double length episode, so technically it's a twenty three episode season, but that is presented as a two part episode here so that is why you get twenty four. All of which run roughly twenty mins approx, with the very last one coming in at twenty three mins.
Being a final season of a twelve season show means it's not really a jumping on point, so new viewers should start with season one.
Following on from the end of last season, Sheldon and Amy get used to married life. And work on their theory as well. Howard and Bernadette now have two children to raise. Leonard and Penny just get on with life and deal with things that come up. While Raj and Stuart both have ladies in their lives.
All might just learn which is more important. Getting what you want, or true friendship...
This is an odd season, because whereas season eleven started to feel tired, this one doesn't feel that way at all. it's a very solid season from the off. Every episode feels consistently good at the very least. And one or two of them are really very good ones indeed. Especially the Halloween episode.
There are some good guest stars. They don't overuse having them though.
The occasional episode that just has stories of the week not plot advances doesn't feel like filler.
However, during the first half of the season, if there had been no more episodes to follow, I would not have batted an eyelid. It felt like a show going through the motions, albeit very well. It was only after thirteen of them, when I suddenly realised the end was nigh, that it did start to feel as if I didn't want it to end.
The ending is excellent though. Some great callbacks to things of the past, some great explanations of things, and whilst the second part isn't quite as funny as the first, it does have a good idea at it's heart, which leads to an excellent final few mins that will leave you with a lump in the throat as they pass. But it didn't leave me wanting more. It really did end it properly.
A couple of other issues: you can never perhaps get all you want from an ending, and some of it may be down to actor availability, but we don't get to see one guest character. The first season I think they've missed. There are a few relative characters who we've never seen who I was hoping for, but who never turn up. And now never will. Although one character who usually appeared once at year at best becomes a semi regular this time out. And is fun in that role.
Also, two major plotlines: one gets scant attention after the second half of the season. And doesn't result in the end you would have hoped for, making it feel a bit of a waste. The other doesn't get any attention at all for far too long. But does end better.
So not quite an ending that can do everything, but not a bad one at all.

Extras: On disc one, thirty seven mins of highlights of the 2018 comic con panel. Nice to see it again, since these were on most of the seasons but not the last one. A fun watch.
Disc two: The Big Bang Theory's impact. You might think it's about it's impact on the tv and cult show landscape, but actually it's about a grant for scientists they fund. An interesting and worthwhile eight min watch.
The Big Bang theory cast visit Ellen. Twelve mins of them being interviewed and playing a game. A fun watch.
The Sweet Spot. Not about Sheldon's spot, but an eight min feature about Mark Sweet, the show's warm up man. Interesting and very involving, this is a really good feature and highly recommended.
Gag reel: the usual six mins worth of outtakes. This one starts slowly, but gets really good midway on. One great prop mishap in particular.
The last days of the Big Bang Theory. Twelve mins showing the production of the last episode, and all that went into it. If you're interested in tv production, this is engrossing stuff. You will note from it that the last few secs of the last scene to be filmed in front of the audience got cut from the final episode, so this is worth checking out for that.
Unravelling the mystery: A Big Bang farewell special. Twenty mins of Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco touring the sets and wallowing in memories. Nicely melancholic, this is a good watch and a good thing to watch last as a way to round it all off.

I was wary of buying it because seasons 10 and 11 were so boring, I was afraid it was going to get worse......instead, season 12 is the best season ever. Consistently funny, all the characters have grown, and the writing this season was superb. I have the complete set now.

Sono stata "costretta" all'acquisto di questo cofanetto in quanto al momento non si trova in streaming l'ultima stagione su nessun servizio ufficiale e l'idea di dover aspettare mesi o anni o di non poter completare la serie non era accettabile - mi sono sentita molto Sheldon alle prese con la cancellazione di Alphas. Edizione UK quindi NON sono presenti audio o video in italiano, ma io guardo tutto in audio originale quindi per me nessun problema. Lo faccio presente solo per chi dovesse leggere.
