Air Canada Announces Major Winter Latin America Expansion

DALLAS – Air Canada (AC) is significantly expanding its Latin American network this winter with the addition of four new destinations, 13 new routes, and a 16% increase in seat capacity compared to last year.

The Winter 2025-26 schedule marks the airline’s most extensive Latin America expansion to date, featuring over 55 daily flights and more than 80,000 weekly seats across the region.

New destinations includeRio de Janeiro (GIG),Cartagena (CTG),Guatemala City (GUA), andGuadalajara (GDL). These are complemented by new routes from major Canadian hubs such as Toronto and Montreal, as well as from regional cities including Quebec City, Halifax, Ottawa, and Vancouver.

"With the breadth and depth of AC's network, our upcoming winter schedule offers a multitude of travel options for customers wherever they are," said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, and President, Cargo at Air Canada.

"We're thrilled to be delivering on our New Frontiers strategy, expanding into high-demand leisure and sixth-freedom connecting markets."

Standouts of New Routes

  • Toronto toRio de Janeiro,Cartagena,Pointe-à-Pitre, andGuadalajara
  • Montreal toSantiago,Cartagena, andGuatemala City
  • Quebec City toFort-de-France
  • Halifax andOttawa toNassau andMontego Bay
  • Vancouver toHuatulco

The Rio de Janeiro service will operate three times weekly starting December 4, 2025, while Montreal’s new Santiago route also begins in December with three weekly frequencies. Additional winter sun flights target key leisure destinations across Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Expanded Capacity on Key Routes

Air Canada is also boosting frequencies on high-demand routes, such as:

  • Toronto–Nassau (up to 12 weekly flights)
  • Toronto–Montego Bay (up to 10 weekly flights)
  • Montreal–Punta Cana (up to three daily flights)
  • Vancouver–Puerto Vallarta (up to daily flights)

The expanded schedule supports both leisure travelers and sixth-freedom connections between Europe and Latin America, while also enabling increased cargo opportunities across the region.
