Used DVD shrink almost 20 years ago.The compression was horrible.Just try to fit a movie on a S/L or D/L DVDs. It was fun then..:)

There used to Be a Version 3.2.0.1.6 that You could Select the converter From Nero to dvddecrypter if you Wanted To ...It Has Been many Years But I Learned so much about Computing Right Here on After Dawn ...Thanks You ...

Have been using Shrink 3.2.0.15 for many years on PC running XP pro. Recently installed it on a Win7 laptop.
Some DVDs it will not accept. Gives message that file is encrypted.
But same DVDs are handled no problem by my old PC

Any suggestions please?

I Love the program but suddenly cant get it to open.

I use this program to backup my DVD collection. I love the fact that it allows me to backup to an ISO(I use XBMC for playback). I love the quality of the video and sound.

Still a piece of crap software. How anybody can live with the quality that it delivers is beyond me.

One of the best, original DVD duplicating softwares. I dont know why people are saying this program is installing the Babylon search bar. DVD Shrink v3.2.0.15 is the last update since around 2004. I have a copy of this software that Ive been using for year and it does not install any search bar. Someone has modified the version available here.

The new version installs Babylon search on your internet browsers even if you tell it no. Then it is a major pain in the XXX to get rid of it. Installing something on your computer is the lowest thing that a company can do. BEWARE

DVDShrink delivers horrible quality after todays standards and are pretty much only for the people that have no clue as to what they are doin when it comes to shrinking.

I would give it -stars but that not possible so had to give it a single one.

If people dont know how to work the more advanced programs they should use CloneDVD atleast thats still being updated once and a while.

I have been using this software for years. It is easy, effective and produces a high quality file for burning to DVD. My friends cannot tell the difference between my backed up movies and the originals.

I heard lots of good recommendation on this SW.

I have used this since it first came out many years ago. I think it should be the standard to which all others should be compared to. The ease of use far exceeds any other yet it does not sacrifice any quality.

I faught 2 days to shrink a movie using apps like> 1CLICK DVD Copy Pro v4.2.5.5, Acala.DVD.Copy.3.4.2, Apollo DVD Copy 4.8.47, DVD Copy 4.1.2.283, AVS Video Converter v8.0.4.495, DVDFab Platinum v8.1.2.5 Qt Final,Jam DVD Copy 4.0.1.27,SlySoft CloneDVD 2.9.2.11 Beta, etc but with no use. With DVD shrink I managed to doit in less the 10 min. Amazing!!!Thank you!!!

Ive been using this program forever. Its definitely a staple in the ripping world. Good to know it still has use for others.

This may be good if you live in the US but the program complained it couldnt work unless I changed the region of my DVD drive to region 1 - which of course I am not prepared to do!

hi there, finally i found a windows vista version of dvd shrink here www.official-dvdshrink.org , the software is not free like dvd shrink 3.2 but this is the price to pay to have dvd shrink updated and with tech support, fair enough!

I've been using DVD shrink for 3 years. I continue to marvel at it's ability to perform without update for that period of time. I've used DVD shrink on well over 350 DVD's and I've been unable to copy perhaps 5 or 6, Star Trek being the most recent stopper. This is by far the most stable and reliable copy program I've ever used.

DVD Shrink is by far the most consistent, and when backed by anydvd it works like a dream.

Ripping DVDs with shrink without an up-to-date decoder will result in failures. I recommend AnyDVD running in the background behind DVDShrink. DVDShrink on its own will shrink but not decript. If you use Microsoft windows Media Player to view your ripped movies then you will get unpredictable playback. If for example a vob is copied to HD and renamed as an mpg then foreign language playback often happens also. Cyberlink's Power DVD v 4 is a rock solid player for playing DVD files and DVDs. Why go later or stuff with anything else?

The reason people are still using this program is because it was made so well to begin with!<br/><br/>The interface is very well designed and it has all the options you would want for shrinking a double layer to a single layer DVD.<br/><br/>I've tried many DVD shrinking utilities but always end up back with DVD shrink. Since I started using it with ImgBurn I haven't had a single problem. Big thanks to the person who added that feature!<br/><br/>Yeah, every once in a while I have to use DVDFab for those stubborn Disney or Sony discs but I still would rather use Shrink.

Even after all of these years, with introductions to other newer software, I still mostly use DVD Shrink for all of my movie editing and backups. Wish they would come back and update it though.

Still the best out there for me. Once in awhile I may have to use DVDFab Decrypter first on maybe a Disney or Sony, but that is rare. Set it up to auto burn with IMG Burn.

this spftware is absolute junk!!!!!!! I have a collection of over 600 dvds and I used this program to rip all of them to my Terabyte drive and have to re-rip half of them. I went to watch one of the movies and found out that this program ripped half of the movie in a different language and half of the other movies in the commentary!!! This software sucks crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there were a zero for voting of this crap I would give it a huge fat zero!!!!

10 years ago this was great software but come on running three programs to try to accomplish what one does much better is a no brainer. Why would you want to put yourself through all of the hassiles that it takes to use this out dated proggy is beyond me.<br/><br/>Do yourself a favor and pick one of the many other good programs that will basically work always and have better quality ripping. If you like multiple program ripping use BD or DVD Rebuilder with another stand alone tool it will give you the highest quality rip and still provide multiple tools to play with.<br/><br/>It amazes me that this software is still used the time to let go is long over.

Skyballa-<br/><br/>The cyclical redundancy error occurs because the DVD has "false" cells in it that make the disc appear greater than 4.38GB.<br/><br/>You need another software to remove the false cells (or see them so you can remove them). I use ripit4me, it works in conjunction with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter (though they are not required for it to work).<br/><br/>Good luck.<br/><br/>But I find that this software ROCKS!

What I've found is if you can't go over Nero version 7 or will error when time to burn. If you have Nero 8 or 9, you'll have to have Shrink output to hard disk, than take those files and create a DVD video seperately with Nero. Programs like this are not being updated or supported by there creators for legal reasons. Enjoy and appreciate what you have.

sometimes DVD Shrink says i need advrcntr2.dll (Nero file) but i just ignore it and burn with DVD Decrypter.

Even someone new to DVD/Video like me can get this to work EVERY time although I've been told some Sony discs won't copy!<br/>Just insert DVD in draw, run DVD Shrink,replace DVD with a blank (I use DVD+R for perfect results in a Panasonic home theatre system) then open Nero (6) and burn video files - Job done!!!<br/>If you just copy 'main movie' it even auto plays without all the adverts and piracy crap! (Tried discs in 3 players... PERFECT in all 3!)

For those interested: This program works in Ubuntu Linux Version 8.04 'Hardy Heron' under the Wine program installation.<br/><br/>For the discs it will not work with, such as some Sony discs, you can use DVDFab HD Decrypter (the free version) also under Wine to copy the disc. This free version of DVDFab will not shrink the program so, if the disc is larger than 4.472 GB, you can shrink the resultant VIDEO_TS file with this program - DVD Shrink.<br/><br/>The whole process is very smooth, very easy, and results in very good-looking disc copies. It is an almost ideal way for Ubuntu Linux users to back up their DVD library with programs that offer Microsoft Windows familiarity.

Hmmmm... Been using DVDDecrypter on my VISTA Machine for a few months now. Only issues I have with it on Vista is when it tries to play the movie after it completes the task. That part just won't work with Vista. As far as everything else is concerned, DVDDecrypter does a great job on Vista and is VERY FAST too!<br/><br/>Just checked (again) and saw that, yes, you can still download the most recent version of DVDDecrypter and it works just fine. Some of you should research a little more before you post.

Great program, If you have a movie that simply won't shrink down far enough to fit on a 4.7GB disk, there is a way around. Shrink and make the .iso file ignoring the programs warning that it won't fit on the DVD. Mount the .iso image that DVD shrink just made on a virtual drive,such as Nero or Daemon tools virtual drive. Choose the virtual drive as the new DVD to shrink, and reshrink it. Of course you will need to place the output for this file somewhere else, or rename it so there' conflict.

I've been using it since day one! I have used it with win2k,xp, and vista and have never experienced any issues. <br/>For those that aren't aware, some movies will not work. Especially the one's coming out of Sony pictures. However...get ripit4me along with decrypter and this gem....and you're set.

I have been using this for about a year now and have had no problems whatsoever. I used to have it on an XP computer, but i bought a new laptop with Vista home premium and it works perfectly. I have three children under the age of eight years old, so backing up DVDs is a must in our house hold.<br/><br/>My three tools of choice to create backups of the children's movies we own are:<br/>1. SlySoft AnyDVD<br/>2. DVDecrypter (no longer available for download)<br/>3. This is not working.....it says there's this invalid file and there is an error and then when I remove it the program says it failed to open it and i'm about to flip.

I personally liked this ripper. It works for almost all DVD's and is incredibally easy to use. The best part is is that its freeware.

it worked until it stopped then i had to go in and find where it stopped by playing with the frames. do not know if it'll burn to a dvd blank cd. I just wanted to convert it for ipod and zune. Just found out about decripter. I am lost and I had it up to here with this stuff.

DVDShrink has been reliable for years; and it works with Vista too. Even though it hasn't been (and won't be) updated since 3.2.0.15, it still performs nicely. Use it with DVD Decrypter.

It would be classified as a very low budget DVD Release. <br/><br/>I've never had a Disk I couldn't copy with these programs.<br/><br/>The only Program that would allow me to copy the Disk was DVD Decryter which I made a Video_TS File. DVD Shrink is a great program.<br/>One think that some of you need to do when encountering encryption problems. Is to run a decryption program first. I usually copy the VIDEO_TS folder on to my hard drive and then run DVD Shrink. Doing this well remove the first encryption and all well work fine after that. I have not had any problems.<br/>wj39.<br/>Did you make an ISO or did you make DVD files. Because I burned an ISO to a disc once and it would not work on my DVD player that is connected to my TV. It would only work on my computer. I would suggest to stay away from burning ISO movie files if you want to see it on your regular DVD player.

There is one thing you need to understand with DVD Shrink - it is a great program for a free program. However, it is no longer updated for legal reasons, so it cannot break the newer codes that distributors have placed on DVDs. If you would like to be able to use this software to copy new disks and make them compatible to you DVD players you should also install Slyfox. This software is continually updated and will break any code on any DVD...I have never ran into one it did not work on. This breaks the code, then DVD Shrink compresses it and then Nero burns it...works like a charm every time!

So far i have been using this program for a while as well. ANd so far it has been working well. until yesterday. i tried making a backup of one of my dvd's and it will play on some of my dvd players but others it won't. the disc i made plays in my pc and in my ps2 but and in my stand alone dvd recorder but it won't play in 2 of my stand alone dvd players. It is the weirdest thing i have ever seen in my life. And i have tried alot of different brand of dvd+r's and dvd-r's too. Same results... DVD shrink does it's job without any errors (most of the time)along with nero but the results are as i descibed above. Any ideas what the problem can be? (i'm new this site!!)

Excellent program. However I have encountered a problem with latest DVDs. When opening disc I get a mesage box which says. "DVD Shrink encouneered an error and cannot continue. Programmimg error - exception occured" Does this mean that the distributors have devised a system to beat DVD shrink? If so any sign of a counter to overcome this?

this software is excellent.i have been using it for a year now with no problems except in the past month.they have caught onto us. every movie out from lionsgate films has an encryption that shrink cannot break. if you try it says invalid dvd navigation structure.hopefully they will have a fix soon for this.also if the program displays a message saying dvd cyclic error it means that there is a scratch on the disk and you will have to try and fix or obtain a new copy.

Ok...here is my problem which I havent encountered yet. I recently copied a season of a tv series and all the discs required that I use RipIt4Me before I could use DVD Shrink. I even used the FixVTS program. Now...all those discs worked when I was done...except the last disc. It would pause, then skip scenes and freeze. So I tried to think what could cause this. So I cleaned my DVD player and tried it again. Same thing. So I popped in the disc before that which is on the same kind of disc and it worked fine. So I took the malfunctioning disc and popped it into the computer...it played fine. So I used DVD shrink and "ripped it" again. I put new disc in to burn it...copied and put it in my DVD player. Still didnt work. So I tried another type of disc. Still didnt work. After that I tried a 3rd kind of disc...the first was Sony, the second was Memorex and the last was Maxell. This time I watched the progress of the burn. It was fine until it got to 85% to 86% done and it was just sit there...and after about 30 seconds or so it would finally move on. I tried that one and it didnt work. I then tried burn a different movie and that worked just fine. So I went back and tried the FixVTS again...then tried to burn...and it still got stuck briefly at 86%. Any ideas on whats going on??<br/><br/>Thanks

FER GODSAKES, UPDATE DVD SHRINK ALREADY !<br/><br/>Well dvd shrink is perfectly adequate, you will occaisionally need another ripper that is better equipped (and updated periodically) for the newer or better encrypted movies. I like dvd shrink just fine as it is free, after all and who is gonna sneeze at "free". But....I also have DVDfab demo "just in case" which is a far superior product and even gets updated regularly ,whereas Anydvd kind of just got set adrift in the free progy world to fend for itself and thusly our of date.

I have been enjoying my DVD Shrink for over a year now and think it is a fantastic program - especially with AnyDVD running in the background. But lately it seems to to be running slow - anybody have experience with DVD Shrink 2007?

i am still use the old dvdshrink but i am trialling slysofts anydvd and it has been updated to vista and seems to have less trouble getting rid of pesky "attachments" than shrink

No updates for this free version and the new DVDShrink 2007 is chargeable.

I agree with dvdlover7, DVD Shrink is an excellent program. However I have noticed lately that more than a few of the newer movie releases can not be copied. DVD Shrink "It's time for an update"!!!

lol. theres nothing wrong with dvdshrink dvdlover7. ripit4me, dvd decrypter, and dvd shrink r the most powerful tools. i have yet to meet a dvd that cannot be "backed up" using those 3 tools.

I've used this for years-for those problem dvds with arcoss and other problems-just run Anydvd in the background-Shrink still works-ditto for DVD Decrypter.

it's very good althought it's free..but have not any update for years..you will find it's problem until you see new release dvd with new copy protection..it's has been release last 6 months soon it's will apply to any dvd that will come out..it's now time to switch to new backup software...

If there could be an "old faithful" in the dvd compressing department, then this would be it!

GREAT Software. Was able to backup my movies with more confidence of getting a "working" copy. Also, it's great that it will re-author the DVD for you, but still gives you the option to make changes.

Ok...I tried to Re-Author Gridiron Gang. I left out the files that had (Continue) next to them and I burned it. Well...I tried to play it and there was no way to select it to play or anything. The Menu came up and the image...but there was no way to select anything. Help!!

Got a problem. I recently made a copy of Gridiron Gang. As far as I could tell everything went smoothly. However when I put my copy of the movie into the DVD player to watch it, the DVD just kept looping the PG-13 graphic, the FBI Warning, the warning screen on the red background, and the "Following interviews..." screen. When I clicked the menu button, it brought up the menu and I hit play movie and it went back to looping those previous screens. So I put the disc in the computer, and the movie is on the disc...I found the files...but for whatever reason...it just loops those screens and wont play the movie...any ideas??

I too have had a few issues with DVD Shrink. However, I have gotten around them with RipIt4Me. I dont think I have had any movies not work unless they are scratched real bad. One concern I have is: My DVD Shrink no longer works with any burning programs. It used to work with Nero. I would put the movie in one DVD drive and a Blank DVD in the other drive...and in about an hour...boom...I had a movie. But all of a sudden, it would burn the movies to 75% or so and then just stop. I ended up with a bunch of coasters. Now I have to do this manually. I let it rip the movie then I open Nero myself and let it burn. Any ideas why this has happened?<br/><br/>Thanks

DVD Shrink was no longer king of back up movies due to new copy protection come out and they did not have any update since v3.2.0.15..i have been switch to clonedvd 4, i have been test it's work on every latest release dvd so far..unfortunately it's not for free cost around $40usd

I didn't say the software was excellent because the decryption software doesn't work with the newer copy protections. However, there are enough freeware programs, i.e. RipIt4Me, that take care of that issue. Overall it's a very good program for editing and transcoding with more options than most users realize. Plus, the price is hard to beat (free). ;)

If having troubles use DVD decrypter to rip then shrink files with DVD shrink. This usually clears most issues.
Never had a problem using these to in conjunction.

This software is absolutely excellent. I have never received a single error in all the months that I have used it. Not only that, the compression quality is usually great and it has no trouble at all bypassing all the safeguards on dvd's that are supposed to prevent ripping. Overall the software does exactly what it's supposed to and does it well.

Ok...so I have DVDShrink, AnyDVD, and FixVTS. I recently tried a movie and none of these programs worked on it. The error I got from DVD Shrink is:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Invalid DVD navigation structure.

Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.

What can I use to get around it??

A great program. I've used it together with AnyDVD to rip (as of yet) any DVD I've come across.

As for the 3.2.0.15 vs. DVDShrink 2007 question. These both are one and the same.

For anyone that still is in doubt this is from DVDShrinks homepage: "We've been told some other sites/domains begin to sell/ask for donations for DVDShrink.
They even rename the latest official version (3.2.0.15)
to other names like DVDShrink 2007."

I like to ask if anyone has recently downloaded the new DVD Shrink 2007? I have been using v3.2.0.15 yet I just loaded CA Internet Protection Suite 2007 and it slowes down the encoding time using v3.2.0.15. I know it cost for the new DVD Shrink 2007 upgrade. Any opinions out there on this?

i usin dvd srink 6 years and its perfect encode any dvd in 6 minutes with sony vaio 3.6ghz its vary good pice of software anybody who make dvd shrink is maker... thank you and i decrypt 4000 dvd movies with dvd shrink

I had a similar problem months ago after downloading an update for nero, DVD shrink just refused to work. The solution I was given at the time was to revert back to the previous Nero update (6.6.0.18). I have stuck with it and all seems to be OK, however if anyone now knows of more recent updates to Nero that allow DVD shrink to work with no problems then please let me know.

Works great on my main computer but on my other computers I can not get the DVD drive to appear. I have Nero 6 installed and I have successfully burned discs using this software so I know it works. I can not seem to find any info on this.

Just realised I asked a question about the software. Apologies. So all i have to say is that DVD SHRINK is awesome.

I got fooled in *buying* the upfate "dvdshrink 2007"which was version 2. I complained and they gave me my money back - but they must be creaming it.

DVD shrink is awesome. It's perfect - no hassel. One question, when will it get an update. I am sure it needs one re latest encryptions etc.

ok i downloadeds dvd shrink from here and followed the guide, but one problem, when i hit backup the program thinks a minute then just exits, anyone know why this is happening, i tried removing and reinstalling, still wont work? please help :)

Can we use this to rip and re-author WITHOUT RECOMPRESSING?

Even if that means copying a dual-layer disc to two single-layer blanks. So far it seems that every app assumes you want to recompress and wind up with crap.

For Faithful7...You got robbed. DVD Shrink is not for sale. Its freeware...someone just robbed you...and it wasnt this site.

The recent problems with DVD Shrink come from Disney (and its associated studios like Buena Vista, Miramax etc.) adding another layer of copy protection which prevents Shrink from analysing the discs content.
To get around it use DVD Decrypter, RIPIT4ME and FFixVTS (all are freeware and come with 'idiot'-proof manuals).
Just tried it out with Pirates: Dead Man's Chest and works perfectly.

I just bought DVD Shrink and thought I was purchasing the 2007 version but instead got the 3.2 version. This site is misleading.

I just got the down load and have a question.I'm trying to rip down DVDs to put on my Zune. Is there any way to do so? Can this program do it or do I need something else?

This program is awesome, I would recommend it to ANYONE who has to back up their DVD's. Also, being able to back up dual layer disks on single layer ones is great, not to mention it saves money.

I have had a lot of success with DVDShrink. However on a couple movies, it doesnt work. So I clean the disc and try again. There doesnt appear to be any scratches on the discs. I also have AnyDVD too. Anyway, I was able to just copy the files from the DVD to my harddrive which as we know takes up 7+ gigs. I tried to shrink them from there but it gives me an error:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Programming error - exception occurred.

Anyone know how to get around this?

Ok To all that are having problems with new dvds. Get AnyDVD you can get that and DvdClone for somewhere aroung 30 us dollars and AnyDvd is updated just about every day, well worth the investment i have NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. and you can use the dvdclone to "SEE" where you want the recording to start and stop. I have been using this product for a few years and always had success. Recently I have been getting numerous errors when trying to copy new dvds that I rented from the store. Any suggestions on copying new DVDs? Is there another software I might be able to use? The older dvds seem to copy great.

Most of the errors I get are during the writing phase on the blank dvd. Any help would be great.

This is an excellent program. I have had great success with it. Copies most movies well and quickly.

Only problem I have been having is the audio tracks are not coming out onto my burns. Picture is fine, but main audio isn't present, just background noise or music. Been using for years, not sure what my problem is, but its frustrating, as I havent done anything different than what I usually do.

Top software, i have been using it for years, and it has only let me down once with the DaVinci Code. There is something strange about that dvd!

In answer to the question from REDCRX, no this software cannot shrink a dvd down to 700MB to burn to a CD.

If you want to do this, there are several methods, depending on how you intend to play back the end product.

I wont go into every detail here because it will fill the whole page, and you will find it all in the guides section anyway.

The first step, riping the DVD to your Hard disk is common to any method, but due to changes in the Finnish Copyright Laws i think all references to this may have been removed from the guides, and also the best software, DVD Decrypter has gone. Basically this means you will need to use DVD Shrink to get the movie off the disk and remove the copy protection.

If you want to watch your content on a standard dvd player you need to create a VCD or SVCD. see guides for converting DVD to VCD.

If you want to watch your content on a PC you will get the best quality out of an MPEG4 codec like DivX or Xvid. You could also watch this on MPEG4 capable DVD players. see guides for converting DVD to MPEG4.

However, compressing down to 700MB is going to give fairly mediocre results, i used to do it before i got a DVD burner, and will take a good few hours of processing time, and multiple pieces of software. If you can i would suggest investing £20 (or $35) in a dvd burner, and go ahead and use DVD Shrink.

Absolutely brilliant piece of Freeware, probably the best DVD compressing/encoding program on the market. Better than all the pay-for programs all put together, had very little to no problems with it, except it can be quite "touchy" on what it reads, for example; if the disc has a slight scratch or blemish, DVD Shrink will encounter an error. Despite this however, I cannot think of a single other problem I have had with it, apart from the programs sensitivity factor. Great program, I highly recommend it to anyone who is in search for FREE DVD COMPRESSION AND BURNING (WITH A LINKED BURNER, E.G. Nero OR OTHER BURNING ROM).

I have so far to date been able to copy everything I have touched except The Devinci Code. I wish the G.U.I. were a little easier to use and understand.

This programme has been used for many years with me and i say the only dvd that i have not been able to copy is King Kong.
It is a shame that it cant copy it but without a doubt this is the best dvd copying software on the market

dvd shrink or nero recode is the only way to go..... if you can't afford nero, i'd stick with shrink. most of the other apps are inferior. with anydvd in the background. your backup copy is ready to go. dvd shrink,dated, yet i believe it's still one of the best!

This is an awesome program and I use with DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, and it has yet to give me any troubles.

dvd shrink is good but after 3 years some dvd not working best backup is to external hard drive like 500gb lacie

I've tried DVD x COPY, and many others the last few years. DVD X Copy was by far the easiest but it has become obsolete. I like DVD Shrink and DVDFab. I just wish DVD Shrink was a easier to reauthor. Or an I missing something.

i am new to the backing up of dvds. a friend told me about your product. after a reading ,and one or two dvd backups, my coaster days were over.i hope that it will be updated or upgraded soon,but even if it is not, dvd shrink is "killer"

the only reason I am not putting an excellent as the vote is because there is one dvd i am trying to "back up" for my brother, but it won't let me! it is chicken little. I have used three different computers! everything goes fine w/ the analyzing, then I go to re-author and everything goes fine there also...the only problem I have is when I try to put it as an IFO file so i can put it into dvd decrypter afterwards...it says my I/O file is wrong or there is an error in it...can someone tell me what that means and how i can fix it? thanks so much for your help

As A newbie to burning, I have found out their are three things I can't live without. 1.DvdFabDecrypter 2.DvdShrink and 3. This Afterdawn Forum, I have learned pretty much everything that I needed to know to get started. I use DvdShrink with Nero to burn and have had only one coaster,that was a dl dvd-r and I had to update my firmware in order to burn the dl's. Best of all is all this software was free thru the internet. I have backed up several dvd's and couldn't do it without DvdShrink. It's nice to be able to copy a movie on one Dvd5.

If you couple this program with a program like ANYDVD there is absolutely NOTHING you cannont copy.
If you don't have this program in your dvd copy arsenal, you are doing yourself a diservice.
The integration of DVDSHRINK with Nero is outstanding...copy, shrink and burn with one program.

This little program is the greatest. I've been using DVD Shrink for the last 3 years. I have never lost or scrambled up a DVD like some other programs do. Like voice sink, some programs lose the voice sink when you shrink them. But this version and the previous verisons have never let me down. I have burned over 800 DVD's in the last 2 years. I have used several other programs to edit and shrink my movies, but DVD Shrink is still the best. Great Program!!!

this is how to eliminate most problems when backing up dvd's. 1st make sure u DO NOT!! dasy chian the dvd burner/rom drive, it must be on its own ide chanel. make sure u use a hi quality cable (i recomend
a good round cable, them ribins just suck). 2nd make sure thir isnt any programs running in the background
(in windows just use msconfig and make sure u un tic load startup items and reboot). 3rd for them sony copy protected dvd's u must use a nother program called anydvd (new'er versons only), it will remove the sony protection. 4th use only name brand +/- dvd's. now burrning is up to you. some versons of nero,sonic record now and ez cddvd do not work right. i personaly use intervideo dvd copy, its specificly for book type dvd burrning, wich is what a dvd movie is. hope this helps :)

DVD Shrink is a good burner, but it's not working up to now with SONY made DVD's.

Dvd Shrink is excellent I have been using it for about 5 months now, and it's awesome. It never gives you any problems.

The best dvd software on this website easily. The good points about it are you need no books on how to use the software very simple to use. The software produces top quality burns which other ones cant get. The software also beets software which cost you to buy. The only bad poin is that ya have to use ner with it. I would use nero 6.6.0.18 top quality burning programme better than nero 7 at the moment to all the bugs are reported.

is there a permanent software out there? dvd shrink will only give you less than a dozen downloads, then it will freeze or slow down to 2-3 hours, instead of the normal 20-30 minutes. i had to restart or re-install and reboot my computer each day this happens.
i've used it with all versions of nero and it still craps out. is there anything better?

Since I first downloaded DVD Shrink I have very little problems backing up my DVD's. Some of the updates have not been great but I have always managed to do the jobs that I wished to do.

After trying numerous "DVD back-up" programs this was recommened to me by a few friends. I have found this to be the best yet. Very basic to use, reliable performance and well set out. Just perfect for the novice.

i`ve been using this software since it was released, for ease of use it is incomparable, especially when used with nero to burn the finished compilation.

i like it but it doesnt do everything. a good combo is clone dvd, dvd decrypter and dvd region free+css. With that combo you can do every movie.

One of the best peices of software ever. Combine this with any DVD and what you have is magic.

A great software to back-up DVDs.
What version 3.2 add from the previous version is the "still image" feature, which enable you to have the same image (that you can choose) shown for the whole duration of the movie part, leaving more Mb for the main movie.
Encoding takes the same time it did with version 3.1 for me...

I have used DVD shrink 3.1 (the version prior to 3.2) and loved it. However, in attempting to use 3.2, I consistently run into strange encoding times like 174 hrs. which moves down to 80 hrs to encode a movie. I have tried various times and encounter the same thing. I presently still used 3.1. I would appreciate any feedback on what may be going on so I can enjoy the product like you all do.

By using DVD Shrink combined with DVD decrypter, I am able to back up 99% of all movies easily. While there is a bit of a learning curve, the guides (especially by scuba pete) and the forum make it able to backup 100% of the movies if you have the time to follow the advice and learn a few things.

I wasted money on a program and it turned out that the combination of the FREE DVD Shrink and DVD decrypter worked better than the program that I bought.

After trying many unsuccessful pieces of shit software, this program was like the light at the end of the tunnel. One of the best automated (for the most part) DVD rippers available. DVDXcopy is dead, long live DVDshrink!

I've used many programs, including DVD XCopy Platinum and since I discovered DVDShrink, it's become my absolute favorite A+++

this program is excellent, like if you use dvd shrink to decrypt it and then nero to burn it. Sometimes ya get dvd's that are a little difficult and it is better to use decrypter, and burn it with nero. Been using it for a few years now, no problems at all.

Thank goodness for DVD Shrink! It is the most fabulous software around. I use DVD Shrink and Nero and nothing else for backing up my DVDs. I don't know how many times my 3 year old has broken or scratched one my backup copies of his Disney movies. I found the last DVD in the toaster! When that happens I just pull out the original and make another back up.

Down load this, works perfect with DVD Decypter.And it`s FREE what more do you want and what more can i say 100 percent safe so go on do it by for now.

anydvd latest version can't rip batman begins. none of the decrypter can rip tht dvd. dvd decrypter and dvdfab decrypter ripped the dvd but when i try to watch it, there's only a repeating scene. i think they finally found how to encrypt the dvd. anydvd needs new update to do tht i think.

Fantastic - only dvd unable to backup so far is "Tears in the Sun" for some reason....Quality good, speed good...alround just damn good!!!

excellent program. with anydvd and dvd decrypter this has done 98% of the dvd's i have thrown at it. i like how you can set the level of compression for different tracks. lower for extras so you can keep them on there yet get better quality out of the main movie

I'm getting an increased number of DVD's that this program will not backup due to redundancy of VOB files. It is probably time for an update of the software.

Good, but need a program thathas a bigger video display area

This soft ware is excellent but take care that some DVD producers discovered that it is very powerful and they produced DVD films (5 or 9 Gigabytes) which can hinder the copying process and by that you can not get a good copy which is running smoothly and instead you get a copy which stops during the show and sometimes the coputer will come to a standstill.
Please make progress for that programm to be immune for all hindering process for burnning the DVD.

I love the layout and feel of this program! Works great and it is free. I like it better than Nero Recode 2. Shrink is better than many commercial programs. Many guides and forums to support using this if you run in to any problems. Easy to use.

The Muttsnuts. I tried to use X-Copy but could never get it to work. This works and lets you know what stage it is at too.

This software is just wonderful. I'm able to backup two movies on one DVD. Of course, these are the shorter movies.
