Founded in 1969, the Louis B. Mayer Library is dedicated to supporting AFI Conservatory studies by offering resources that complement the curriculum and promote scholarship.

The library is open to AFI Fellows, Faculty, Alumni and Staff.

The Library provides information and research resources to all Fellows, Faculty, Alumni and Staff of AFI. The Library circulates books that represent the six disciplines and the wider world of filmmaking, movie history, theory and criticism, scripts, classic fiction and short stories as well as cultural influences. We circulate DVDs and Blu-rays of domestic and foreign feature films, shorts, documentaries and television series. The Ahmanson room houses an extensive reference collection of scripts, photography, art, design, architecture, fashion and core film texts. The Library is also the repository for all films made by AFI Conservatory Fellows (Cycle and Thesis Films) and AFI DWW+ participants, which are available for viewing in the Library.
