Amazon is driven by the belief that everyone should have access to basic needs like food and housing. As millions of families struggle with food insecurity, Amazon has a unique role to play providing a critical service for communities in need.
Amazon supports the critical work of our partners to help individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
We do this through donations of food, and by delivering groceries throughout our communities. To date, we’ve donated 59 million meals to foodbanks, pantries, kitchens, and shelters and, through our Community Delivery program, we’ve delivered more than 34 million meals directly to families across our hometown communities. Families who receive home-delivered groceries benefit from greater access to food assistance and experience improved emotional well-being compared to those participating in food pickup programs. And they save money and time—on average, residents served by community delivery save $100 per month.

How Food Delivery Programs Transform Lives
Amazon commissioned this report to deepen understanding of the impact of home delivery support for food assistance programs that quickly transport vital groceries to people in need for free.
Amazon partners with food assistance organizations across the globe to help address the rising rates of food insecurity, including communities around our hometown in the Puget Sound region and in Arlington, Virginia, and Nashville, Tennessee.
In these communities, we have donated millions in cash to support hunger relief programs directly benefiting children and families, along with in-kind donations equivalent to serving over 30 million meals. Learn more about some of the regional providers.
- In thePuget Sound area, we’ve donated more than 8 million meals to local organizations like Food Lifeline, FareStart, and Ballard Food Bank, helping them address food insecurity and hunger across the region. And we have used our logistics network to deliver more than 2 million meals to families, making it easier for them to access the food they need. - In theArlington region, Amazon has partnered withCapital Area Food Bank,Bread for the City,Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia, and local restaurants. Together, we deliver food and provide free fruits, vegetables, and other groceries to residents through the support of pop-up mobile markets.
- InNashville,we work withSecond Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee andCommunities in Schools of Tennessee to support in-school food pantries, meal backpack initiatives, and other basic needs.
