In January of 2020, NYU Libraries convened a trio of working groups to steer our work in digital collecting, publishing and preservation activities. Each working group was composed of professionals from across the Libraries, representing a holistic approach to digital collections management.

Digital Library Selection Priorities Working Group(12 month term)

The Digital Library Selection Priorities Working Group pursued two distinct but related activities over a 12 month term which concluded in May 2021.  Their charge was twofold: First, to create a statement of the Libraries’ selection criteria for digital materials and digital library publication projects, both those that should be digitized and those already in digital form, to be included for access and/or long-term preservation in Libraries-managed digital collections and publication services. Second, to create a strategy statement that articulates the landscape, criteria, and prioritization of scalable access services to digital resources in specific scholarly contexts.

Digital Project Assessment Committee(Ongoing)

This group assesses the resources, level of access, description or preservation requirements needed for a proposed collection. They also recommend collections to the Digital Library Steering Committee. For collections the Working Group has recommended that are approved by the Digital Library Steering Committee, this group will shepherd collections through workflows.

Digital Library Steering Committee(2020-2024)

This group met regularly to prioritize among the digital preservation and publication projects identified by the Digital Preservation and Access Working Group, from subject liaisons, from NYU Press, and from teaching and research faculty. This group concluded its service in August 2024.
