TheAzuremyst Isles,[2] also known asNar'valas (Darnassian: "View of Unending Stars"),[3] are a group of islands introduced inThe Burning Crusade expansion, located in theVeiled Sea off the coast of northwesternKalimdor.
This piece of the western edge of ancient Kalimdor was a mountainous forest. This farthest west part of the land was mostly untamed by the ancientKaldorei Empire. According todraenei historians, it was left unsettled on purpose so that hungry beasts could feed off the land and hunters could trap the choicest prey.[3] Despite being untamed, there was somenight elf presence, including a city,[4] judging by the presence of their ruins on them (and the fact that the area northwest of Mount Hyjalwas a part of the empire)
When theGreat Sundering rent the world, Azuremyst split off and trapped all life here with it. The plants and animals that survived slowly adapted to the harsh new environment. With the arrival of thedraenei on Azeroth not long before the reopening of theDark Portal caused chaos in the area.[3] Their vessel, theExodar - a satellite ofTempest Keep - crash-landed onAzuremyst Isle (the island from which the chain gets its name) and crystals from its superstructure are strewn throughout the island chain, causing severe damage to the islands' ecosystems and angering the elemental spirits. Some areas have a red tinge to the air and plant life. Many creatures of the isles have mutated from theradiation, and some even have become hostile and grown unnatural in size.
The draenei are unable to clear away the toxic blight.[3]

Azuremyst Isle is the southwestern of the two islands, and forms the starting zone to the playabledraenei race. The crash-landednaaru vesselExodar can be found on the western coast of the island and currently serves as the capital of the draenei on Azeroth. The island itself is divided into two parts by a river running north-south, the eastern and slightly smaller region dubbedAmmen Vale, as it is sheltered by hills on all sides. To the south liesSilvermyst Isle, close enough to reach by swimming without difficulty, and small enough to be considered part of the main island. Azuremyst Isle contains no dungeons, raid dungeons, micro dungeons, or battlegrounds. It is the starting area for thedraenei and contains a 1-5 leveling area,Ammen Vale. The draenei city, theExodar, can also be found in this zone with a flight path toBloodmyst Isle. The only access to the remainder of Kalimdor is by boat toRut'theran Village at the southern edge ofTeldrassil.

Bloodmyst Isle[]
- Main article:Bloodmyst Isle
Bloodmyst Isle, named as Silvergale by the draenei before they saw the full damage,[3] is the northern of the two major isles of the Azuremyst Isles. Bloodmyst is often the next step in the journey for ambitious young draenei. The island is divided into two sections by a narrow strip of water. The smaller section, which is connected by bridge to Azuremyst Isle, is yet untainted by the red mist which covers the main part of the island. There are no instanced dungeons or battlegrounds on Bloodmyst Isle. The micro dungeon, theVector Coil, can be found here.Blood Watch serves as the zone's travel hub, connecting it to Azuremyst Isle.
