PES Women is fighting for a gender just and feminist Europe by giving a voice, tools and platform for women, by putting forward specific women’s rights policies, through gender-mainstreaming the overall policy-making of the Social Democratic family.

There is no excuse. Rape is a crime. Consent must be the standard across the EU.Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, our message is clear: Europe cannot wait any longer for a consent-based definition of rape.Two S&D MEPs, Evin Incir and Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus, are leading the draft report on the importance of consent-based rape legislation in the EU, which will be voted in plenary in December 2025.This vote will send a strong political demand to the EU institutions.The S&D Group is pushing for EU legislation that aligns with the Istanbul Convention and guarantees:– equality of protection across all Member States– a clear definition of rape– trauma-informed justice systems– consent education and cultural change– no more excuses, no more loopholesThe European Parliament has made its demand clear.After that, the responsibility will be on the European Commission and the Council to move forward to deliver a legislation that protects women everywhere in Europe.#NoYesNoExcuse#IDEVAW#25November…See MoreSee Less
