Confucius (Royuwaay:Zh, orRoyuwaay:Zh), literally "Master Kong",[1] (traditionally 28 September551 BC – 479 BC)[2] was aChinese thinker and socialphilosopher of theSpring and Autumn Period.

The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal andgovernmentalmorality, correctness ofsocial relationships,justice andsincerity. These values gained prominence inChina over other doctrines, such asLegalism (Royuwaay:Lang) orTaoism (Royuwaay:Lang) during theHan Dynasty[3][4][5] (206 BC – AD 220). Confucius' thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known asConfucianism (Royuwaay:Lang).
