Zebon
| ||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||
Zebon is a floating green bubble-like creature with a simple face that appears in bothKirby's Dream Land 3 andKirby 64: The Crystal Shards. While it is listed as anenemy in both games, it actually instead serves as the equivalent ofcannons from otherKirby titles: if Kirby or another player character jumps into a Zebon, they'll wind up inside it before being launched out its mouth in a given direction. Zebon cannot be attacked in any manner, nor can it deal damage in any way (aside from potentially launchingKirby into a bad situation).
Like with cannons, Zebon will make Kirby invincible during its launch, and can also defeat enemies and break blocks in the launch path. Some Zebons can also rotate before firing, similar to the equivalent rotating cannons from other games.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby's Dream Land 3[edit]
Zebon makes its first appearance in this game. It is often found in interior spaces, situated in areas that prevent Kirby from making progress without its assistance. This can particularly be seen inSand Canyon - Stage 6, where a Zebon is the main means of traversal between rooms in the center of the pyramid.

InKirby: Right Back at Ya![edit]

| “ | Says here: "I have long searched for the ingredient that is said to be the most delectable of all. It is called Zebon." | ” | — King Dedede, inThe Big Taste Test |
Zebon is referenced in theanime in the episodeThe Big Taste Test as an ingredient specified in a cookbook given toChef Kawasaki. The aspiring chef is ordered by "Chef Shiitake" to prepare Zebon for him, but as part of a ploy fromNight Mare Enterprises,King Dedede sabotages the cookbook to make Kawasaki think thatKirby is the Zebon he must prepare. Zebon itself makes no physical appearance in the show.
The description written in the book regarding Zebon is rendered in English in the Japanese and Chinese versions of the show. It reads as follows:
- "By the taste that the universe 1 is rare. cook's admiration. It has never been moved to the mouth even with this me. Food material ZEBON of the vision."
It is unclear if the choppy nature of the text is intentional or due to mistranslation. It is likely the latter though, since this blurb is removed from the 4Kids English version and the foreign versions based on it.
